Felines and Fill-ins Week 6

Welcome to another Friday and Happy September to all! We have entered my favorite part of the year. I just love so much about September-December. Mainly, I'm so glad the weather is cooling down. The August heat was not fun! It already feels so much better.

Let's get hopping with today's blog hops. You can click on the host links below to read the blogs by others who are participating, and if you're a blogger, feel free to join through the links below!

Question: Is it difficult to find new books in local bookstores?

My response: When I buy new books, I always buy them from local bookstores. When I can't physically go to the store, I buy them from that store's website. If they don't already have them in stock, I order the books and after a few weeks they are mailed to me. This has never been a problem. I'd probably receive them faster and it's possible they would be a little less expensive if I ordered from larger companies, but I prefer to support local bookstores. To limit my spending, I just don't buy a lot of books. I sometimes borrow audiobooks or e-books from the library, but all the ones I purchase to add to my small personal library are printed books.

FRIENDLY FILL-INS, hosted by Four-Legged Furballs and 15 and Meowing
1. I am not always reading cozy mysteries. Although they are my preference, I also read non-fiction. Occasionally, I also read fiction books that are not cozies.

2. I refuse to eat anything I don't like, such as oatmeal. I believe eating can be both a healthy and pleasurable experience at the same time.

3. I would happily accept a job offer at nowhere. LOL. I'm happily retired (on disability). I do volunteer in various ways (from home). I enjoyed my years as an elementary school teacher, but I would not want to work again.

4. Flying a plane is a job I could never do. Although I have flown in a plane many times, I have always had a horrible fear of heights and of flying. Believe me when I say you wouldn't want me flying your plane!

Happy Cat Month greetings to all! Yes, that's right. September is Happy Cat Month.

Bell and Fiona are happy that they had their vet appointment last weekend and we are good-to-go for another year! The vet said everything looks good. They are now four months old and she said it's time to start transitioning from kitten food to cat food. This surprised me. I had planned on feeding them kitten food for an entire year. So this month they will start getting soft cat food on the weekends, while still eating soft kitten food during the week. The hard food is for all life stages, so that will not change. I had to break the news to the girls that the amount of food I give them will not increase (although they were in the room at the time when the vet told me this, so they probably heard...). Feeding time is a frenzy and I am certain they would gobble up more food in a jiffy, if given the opportunity. The vet said they should each continue to eat only one can of food per day, along with a quarter cup each of dry food daily.

  1. Love your fill-ins. I'm with you on not working. I worked for many years.

Aw on your babies and I was always amazed when they transitioned from kitty to cat food. We want to keep them as kitties as long as we can.

Thank you for joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop.

Have a purrfect Feline Friday and weekend. ♥

  2. Hello and happy September! I'm like and love this time of the year. And thank you for joining in on the Friendly Fill-Ins! You are so right with #2. It is possible to eat healthy without forcing yourself to eat things you don't like. I myself am not a fan of salad, so I never eat it. I get my leafy greens in other dishes. And I wish I'd thought of your answer for #4. I'm a fan of neither heights nor flying, so I am with you on this one. Wishing you and adorable Bell and Fiona a wonderful weekend!

  5. I am another one who is retired too and wouldn't want to go out to work. I was my own boss for many years with our horse livery yard so couldn't imagine working for someone else again.
That is a lovely photo of Fiona and Bell, and I am glad they had a good vet visit.

  6. That picture is so adorable! What cuties those two are! Cozies are my preference too but sometimes I'll read something else. I don't like oatmeal either. I'm retired, too, so I really wouldn't accept a job offer either. LOL Have a great weekend!
