Top Ten Tuesday - 2023 Future Reading Log

It's Tuesday, so I am once again linking with That Artsy Reader Girl who hosts Top Ten Tuesday. You can click on the link to her blog post to view her list and links to the lists composed by other bloggers participating in this blog hop. Different bloggers often have their own unique take on the suggested topic.

Today we have a Thankful Freebie week and I am thankful for this opportunity to get organized and begin listing the (more than ten) books I'm planning to read next year. All of the books on this list are ones I definitely want to read, either for myself or because they're part of The Cozy Mystery Book Club. Are any of you in The Cozy Mystery Book Club?

Slow and Steady Reads (I got this idea from a fellow blogger. These are books and magazines that I will take my time reading throughout the year.):
Bella Grace Magazine - This is a seasonal magazine that is published four times a year. I would classify it as creative non-fiction. There are also writing prompts in it. I like to read one or two articles each day and answer any prompts that may be associated with those articles. Not every article is accompanied by a writing prompt. This is the only magazine I subscribe to. I think it's like a book.

The Original Illustrated Sherlock Holmes, by Arthur Conan Doyle - I have read a few short stories in this book and I want to read more of them in the coming year. I own a copy of this book, so I can read it at my leisure without it having a due date.

David Copperfield, by Charles Dickens - This is a long book! However, since I own a copy of it, I can take my time reading it during the year.

And now for the shorter books. I'll probably end up with about three books each month. I may add or postpone some books. This is just a guide for myself.

I've indicated cozy mysteries with a ๐Ÿ„.

I'm feeling so overwhelmed with the number of books I want to read, but having an organized plan like this helps. My TBR list has over 100 books on it, most of which are cozy mysteries. I am sure I'll add more as the months go on, but for now, these are the ones I want to read during each month. Can you think of any cozy mysteries you would recommend that take place during any of the months where I've only listed one or two books? I like reading series in order, so first in series would be great. If it's second or third in the series I could probably catch up, so those might work too.

  1. I feel like Ellery adams is always a win. And I haven't read Cackle by Rachel Harrison but I just read her new book Such sharp Teeth and LOVED it. Although it's not exactly cozy lol

  2. Wow, I'm impressed with your organization! I agree that it's helpful to have a plan, although I never actually make plans (at least not ones I stick to). I haven't read any of these, so I'll be looking forward to your reviews and recommendations. Good luck with your reading goals for the new year!

    Happy TTT!

    1. Thank you, Susan. I don't always stick to my plan, but having one in writing puts my mind at ease. It gives me a place to put my thoughts and a place to start. :-)

  4. I rarely read cozies, but I admire your planning. I actually created a reading planner myself after seeing someone's handwritten one on their blog, but mine is in Excel. You're right, it really does help to have a sort of plan but with enough space to allow for spontaneous choices. Have a terrific week.

  6. Wooow, i love this post!! This gives me such good book ideas. I've never read David Copperfield, but i try to put in one long classic at a time too. I read Moby Dick over the summer a few years back and now it's my favorite book ever. :D

    Have a good holiday!

  7. Wow, you're very organized. I don't even know which book I'm going to read next! There's no way I'd be able to make plans for next year's reading.

    1. A lot of these are for The Cozy Mystery Book Club. They already know which books they'll be reading every month next year. Others are next in series that I know I want to read for myself, but since I'm a seasonal reader I assigned them to specific months. And then there are many others first in series that I want to read. Those are the ones that are hardest to plan. :-)
