The Friday Six 2

Happy Friday!

Today I'm participating in six blog hops. You can click on the host links below to find the blogs of others who are participating in each blog hop. If you're a blogger, feel free to join through the host links.

Question: Summer often means more time for reading. Do you have a list of books you're eager to start reading during June's warm days? Do you have a summer reading goal?

My response: Here's my bookish plan for June:
  • Flying Off the Candle (Glenmyre Whim Mystery 3), by Sarah E. Burr (ARC)
  • Summoning, Skating, and  Skulls (Bewitcher's Beach Mystery 2), by Emily Fluke (ARC)
  • Murder at the Lakeside Library (Lakeside Library Mystery 1), by Holly Danvers (June book club pick)
  • First three books in the Campers and Criminals mystery series, by Tonya Kappes (audiobook challenge)
In July I will read and listen to Christmas cozies for Christmas in July, plus read or listen to the July book club pick. In August and September I have a few warm-weather-themed books on my list, as well as the monthly book club picks. Some are ARCs, while others are simply books I want to read.

My summer reading calendar is full!

Today's excerpts are from the e-ARC format of Flying Off the Candle (Glenmyre Whim Mystery 3), by Sarah E. Burr.

Here is the beginning:
"Holy hexes!" Poppy Glenmyre gripped the steering wheel, her blue eyes wide. This doesn't look good.

And here is an excerpt from 56%:
I examined the aged, blurry photo. The warm, beige hue wasn't an Instagram filter. It had been brought on my time. "This wasn't taken with a digital camera, that's for sure." I gently picked up the Polaroid pic to study it further.

I love the excerpt from 56%. I love photography, and the description shows the passage of time. I think digital photography is great. It definitely has its place in this world. However, there's something special about holding a physical photograph. The book takes place in present day, but which time period do you think the picture is from? What do you think they're looking at?

This book releases on Tuesday and I hope to have my review posted on that day. I'm about 60% through the book.

Miss Tinker Bell had been trying to open the kitchen cabinets. She finally succeeded, as evidenced by the sea of paper towels found all over the kitchen floor one morning, so now there are childproof locks on cabinets. I've never had to do that for any cat I've had, until now. Bell is a rare breed, in more ways than one.

After a week of humid and turbulent weather, we finally had much more comfortable temps, lower humidity, and abundant sunshine today.

  1. Miss Bell certainly is a little tinker getting into the cabinets!

  2. Bell is very clever. My Oreo is like that. I haven't had to get the baby locks yet. I hope yours works.

  3. Happy Saturday!
I'm currently reading Her Part to Play by Jenny Erlingsson. So far, I am enjoying it a lot!
"Adanne swallowed the lump in her throat and turned toward the mirror. The fluorescent bulbs highlighted the worry in her eyes that no amount of makeup could hide."
I hope you are having a great weekend filled with lots of relaxing reading time. 😊❤️πŸ“š

  4. Your June reading list looks like a fun mix of books! And I love the idea of Christmas in July. I always tell myself I will take part, but I don't always remember when the month actually arrives. I like the look and sound of Flying Off the Candle! Bell's a smart and crafty cat. :-) My Gracie can open the cupboards. Luckily she just likes to get herself shut inside them and doesn't actually make any sort of mess. The photo of Bell is so adorable. I hope you have a great weekend!

    1. Christmas in July is my way of escaping the summer heat. Summer is my least favorite season, but Christmas in July makes it fun. :) Thank you, and you too! :)

Ms. Tinker Bell, you certainly keep your mama on her toes! Thank you for linking up with Feline Friday.

The sky is a lovely shade of blue, I'm glad you are having such beautiful weather.
