Friday Features 21

Happy Friday!

I have renamed my Friday posts to Friday Features. At this time, the content will not change.

Today I'm once again participating in six blog hops.  You can click on the host links below to find the blogs of others who are participating in each blog hop. If you're a blogger, feel free to join through the host links.

QuestionHow many weekly bookish posts do you put on your blog or social media.

My response:  My intended blog posting schedule is as follows:

Sunday - Sunday Post (my week in review)
Monday - Continuation of Sunday Post link up
Tuesday, Wednesday, and/or Thursday - Book and/or movie reviews
Friday - Friday Features (You're reading this right now.)
Saturday - Jigsaw puzzle

Life happens, so I don't always post as often as I'd like to, but the above schedule is what I aim for.

Today's excerpts are from the audiobook format of A Nutcracker Nightmare (Killer Chocolate Mystery 2), by Christina Romeril.

Here is the beginning:
Murder may not be good for some businesses, but for the Murder and Mayhem: Killer Chocolates and Bookshop it was essential.

And here is an excerpt from 56%:
"I think just about everyone may have circumstances where they might be pushed into doing something they never thought they'd do."

This book is written in third person, so the narrator is speaking in the opening sentence. In the excerpt from 56%, several characters are having a discussion about the murder suspects. I finished listening to this book yesterday and I'm planning to post my review next week as I celebrate Christmas in July. What I will say for now is that I did enjoy it and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series, which is expected to be released later this year.

My children celebrated their Gotcha Day on July 3rd. Three years already! This is a rare photo of the two of them together. I cannot even begin to tell you how much they love this mouse, so much so that they are only allowed to play with it supervised and only once or twice a week. It especially brings out the beast in Bell. She is always the first to grab it. She holds onto it in her mouth, all the while growling and hissing even if no one is bothering her. Fiona keeps an eye on Bell, but she also keeps her distance. Eventually, Bell gets tired of running around with it (all that hissing and growling can be exhausting!), so she then allows Fiona to play with it. Bell still supervises her, though. This picture was taken after they were both exhausted from playing with it.

This was taken the first week of June when it was still cool enough to take my walks. Since then, it's been way too hot and humid for my tolerance level. We have consistently had highs that feel over 100f with the humidity. Tomorrow (Saturday) morning at 9 a.m. will feel like 90f. I can't wait until it cools down enough for me to take my walks again, but that most likely won't happen until the fall. Even 80f in the summer is too hot for me.

  1. I think this must be part of Christmas in July. In fact I thought I'd like to read a Christmas book this month. Hope it is a good one.

  2. It is sweet that they both have the same favourite toy, and that Bell, albeit grudgingly will eventually let Fiona play with it.

    1. I'm pretty sure Fiona's interest in it was sparked by Bell's passion for it. :)

  3. Life does happen, I'm just glad you keep enjoying your reading and sharing here when you can.

Bell and Fiona are precious and so funny about the toy. I don't blame you for being careful with it since it's such a favorite. I do wish the girls many happy returns of their Gotcha Day and thank you for linking up with Feline Friday.
