Sunday Post 140

Hi everyone!

Through Monday, I am linking with the following:

I finished the puzzle! I ended up with 60 duplicate pieces. That's 60 extra pieces to sift through that didn't even belong in the 500-piece puzzle! Anyway, it's done and I feel very good about that. You can't see it from the picture, but this puzzle has a 3D effect.

Title: The Mandalorian and Grogu
Brand: Prime 3D
Artist: Lucasfilm
Piece count: 500
Size: 24×18 in.

This puzzle came in a set of two. The other puzzle is just Grogu. It's cute, but it looks very challenging since it's mostly one color. I'm not ready to take on that puzzle, but eventually I might.

So, have you ever completed a puzzle and ended up with extra pieces. I did a 1000 piece puzzle twelve years ago that had one duplicate piece. I thought 60 for The Mandalorian and Grogu was quite high! What would you do with all those extra pieces?

All the extra pieces are in this tray.

IN THE BOOKS

RECENTLY FINISHED
πŸ„πŸ„πŸ„
I listened to Wedding Cake Murder (Hannah Swensen 19), written by Joanne Fluke and narrated by Suzanne Toren. The mystery got started late and once it did, it was often disrupted by foodie talk. I love the foodie talk, but there was just too much of it and not enough mystery for my taste. I'm going to finish the series, though. The next one is Christmas-themed, so I'll save it for Christmas in July.
IN PROGRESS
I read Spring Week 12 in The Comfort of Crows: A Backyard Year, written by Margaret Renkl and illustrated by Billy Renkl. Butterflies! When I taught second grade, the lifecycle of the butterfly was my favorite unit. Butterflies also make me think of my best friend. (Stephanie passed in 2010.) She designed a tote bag for me that has monarch butterflies on it.
I'm about halfway through
Witches, Walkie-Talkies, and Warnings (Bewitcher's Beach Paranormal Cozy Mystery 6), by Emily Fluke. (There is a misprint in the title of the book. It should be "Walkie" not "Walkies".) This series has evolved quite a bit. I'm enjoying this installment, especially as the action picks up in the second half of the book.
UP NEXT
My next audiobook listen will be
The Deep End (Country Club Murders 1), by Julie Mulhern. She is a new-to-me author. I won her book in a giveaway (not on Goodreads). I love having a signed copy, but I'll get to it faster if I listen to the audiobook.
My next read will be
The Masala Chai Mystery Club, by MJ Soni. I met this author at Malice Domestic back in April and I'm excited to read an ARC of her debut cozy mystery.
ON THE SCREEN
  • The Way Home - I watched episode 8. Only two more episodes left in the entire series. The music is such an integral component of the show that Hallmark released a soundtrack that currently has 30 songs, with two more coming after the series finale airs. I've been listening to the soundtrack on repeat on Spotify.
  • The Brady Bunch - I've watched a few episodes in season 3. The kids have really grown up at this point, especially Greg. I think he was 20 years in real life when the show ended after season 5.
  • Murder, She Wrote - I'm still enjoying season 5. My plan is to finish this season this month because July will be all about Christmas movies. Anything to beat the heat!
  • The Greek Aisle - This is the first in the summer-themed movies on The Hallmark Channel. I enjoyed it, but I'm not sure I'd watch it again. It has a strong cast and beautiful scenery, but it's a recycled plot. Also, I thought it would be funnier than it was because it's a fake marriage trope. That should have been hilarious, but it missed the mark with the lack of humor.

  2. I have The Masala Chai Mystery Club on my TBR as well. I love the idea of Christmas movies in July -- what a fun way to deal with those horribly hot July temps.

  4. I've never put together a jigsaw puzzle that had too few or too many pieces. I can't imagine finding 60 extras! I wonder if it made solving the puzzle easier or harder. Butterflies are my favorite aspect of nature.

    1. Definitely harder, Deb! It meant I had to sift through a lot of extra pieces that had no business being there. Lol. :)

  5. Never have I ever found extra pieces, not that I’ve done many puzzles like this. I wonder if the next box at the factory was short by 60?

  6. Wow, I've never come across a puzzle with extra pieces, I must admit! That must've been pretty annoying, actually.

    1. It made it so much more challenging and frustrating with the extra pieces, but when I realized that was the case, I started weeding them out and finished it pretty quickly after that. :)

  8. Neat puzzle! I don't think I've ever had that many leftover pieces for a puzzle. Sounds like you got some good reading in last week. Hope you enjoy this coming week.

  9. Interesting assortment of books. I can't imagine a puzzle coming with extra pieces. I find jigsaws difficult enough without that being thrown in. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  10. Never heard of extra pieces in a puzzle. I do have pieces of jigsaw hanging around though and I think oh dear which puzzle did they come from! Well done with the puzzle. Butterflies are certainly a wonderful piece of nature.

  11. That’s an absurd amount of extra pieces..was it deliberate?

Thanks for sharing your week, happy reading!

    1. I'm not sure, but that's a cruel joke to play if it was deliberate. Lol. :)
