Felines and Fill-ins Week 10

Hello friends! I am participating in three blog hops today. You can click on the host links below to read the blogs of others who are participating, and if you're a blogger, feel free to join through the links below!

QuestionDo you watch film adaptations of books before reading them?

My response: Yes. I have found that I can enjoy both experiences more fully if I watch the movie first. One reason for this is because the book is usually better than the movie. Therefore, I won't be comparing the movie to something better. Also, the movie is often like a framework for the book. This gives me a general understanding of the story and when I read the book it fills in the details that the movie didn't include.

One exception to this is "Greta Gerwig's Little Women". I read the book before watching any movie adaptations and I was blown away by how awesome this adaptation was. It's a masterpiece that I think can be enjoyed either before or after reading the book. (I recommend doing both.)

FRIENDLY FILL-INS, hosted by Four-Legged Furballs and 15 and Meowing
1. My list of things to do in November includes reading a couple of Thanksgiving-themed cozy mysteries and posting reviews of them on my blog.

2. cat is the purrfect companion. (And two are even better.)

3. I never would have guessed that there are so many different themes within the cozy mystery genre. I started reading cozies just over a year ago and at that time I was only reading the Hannah Swensen mysteries. This year I have discovered the cozy mystery genre is filled with all kinds of different themes.

4. That culinary cozies are not a favorite theme of mine is an unpopular opinion. Culinary cozies with recipes in them are very popular. They don't interest me as much because I'm not much of a chef or baker. Most of the time I skip over the recipes and don't even read them. There are exceptions to this, however. If a series is about a favorite food of mine, like grilled cheese or maple syrup, then I am definitely drawn to them. In the case of the Hannah Swensen series, well there's a whole history on that which you can read about here. I do read culinary cozies; it's just that the culinary aspect of them is not usually what draws me to them.

Look at how much my caboodle of cozies have grown! The first picture is when they were first adopted at 10 weeks old. On November 1st they turned 6 months old.

  5. Great fill ins! Of course I agree with #2. I like all kinds of cozies. I don't think I have a favorite. Maybe ones with cats in them. I usually just skim through the recipes. I'm not much of a chef or baker either. Fiona and Bell are so beautiful!
