Question: Do you enjoy reading romance novels? If so, which romance trope is your favorite?
My response: Although cozy mysteries are my favorite, I do also enjoy reading romance novels. I don't think I've read enough of them to say which is my favorite romance trope, though. Perhaps, done well I would enjoy any romance trope.
I have read and enjoyed Danielle Steel and Nicholas Sparks. I do want to read more from those authors, but lately I've become especially interested in lighter and fluffier romance novels - like what you might see in a Hallmark movie. In fact, just today I finished listening to The Secret Ingredient, by Nancy Naigle. It was published by Hallmark and turned into a movie. I have also seen the movie. I'll review the book and briefly compare the two when I post my reflections on Monday. While it isn't a mystery, it definitely feels cozy.
was also published by Hallmark, then turned into a movie. I really enjoyed the movie and I immediately wanted to read the book after watching it. I would have preferred to read both of these books in print, but they both take place around Valentine's Day and I wouldn't be able to obtain the print books in time. I prefer to read books when they're "in season" as often as possible. So I'm listening to the audiobooks on Hoopla, thanks to one of my local library systems.
FRIENDLY FILL-INS, hosted by Four-Legged Furballs and 15 and Meowing.
1. I am going to the library on Saturday. Can't wait to pick up Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, by Matthew Perry. I've been on the waiting list for a couple of months and it's finally my turn!
2. The worst Hallmark movie so far this year (in my opinion) is Love in Glacier National: A National Park Romance. It's the only Hallmark movie I've ever given only one star. Great scenery, but unlikeable characters, a less than stellar script, and an important unresolved storyline. Hopefully the worst of the year is behind us.
3. From my experience, friendship is worth its weight in gold.
4. Exercising in the evening does not work for me.
This is Bell. She's a dilute tortie, so instead of black and orange, she is gray and tan. Fellow tortie fans, mark your calendars - April 17th is National Tortie Day!
Although there are some tropes I like better than others, you are definitely right about them all being good if done well. I haven't read too many Valentine's Day themed romances but Sweeter than Chocolate sounds cute. Bell is beautiful! I have a tortie named Nina. She's very independent and fiesty. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Bell is independent in some ways, but quite dependent in other ways. And she definitely has tortitude! The movie Sweeter than Chocolate was so good. It's one of Hallmark's best ever. I can't imagine I wouldn't enjoy the book, too. :-)
DeleteI read a lot of romance and like all the tropes, but it all depends on how well it's written.
ReplyDeleteWendy, with cozies, I've read enough of them to know I have a definite favorite trope in that genre - magic. However, just like romance novels, I enjoy any trope when done well. :-)
DeleteBell is a pretty girl. Exercising any time of the day doesn't work for me, but I try to do it every morning.
ReplyDeleteThank you! That's great that you try to exercise every morning! The benefits are endless. :-)
DeleteWe have a tortie as well, she is gray and tan too, lol! Bell is gorgeous. Happy weekend π
ReplyDeleteTorties of the world unite! Thank you. Happy Weekend to you as well! :-)
DeleteGreat fill ins. Bell is a beauty. I didn't know it was Tortie Day in April. My Cookie is an orange and black one.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Yvonne. Cookie is a beauty, too! :-)
DeleteBooks and cats, what could be better?
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining Feline Friday, Bell is most beautiful.
Thank you! And I agree! :-)
