Fun on Friday 38

Happy Friday, friends!

I am joining a new linky, so today and for the foreseeable future on Fridays, I am participating in five blog hops. You can click on the host links below to read the blogs of others who are participating in each blog hop. If you're a blogger, feel free to join through their links!

QuestionWhat would the title of your autobiography be?

My response: Meezan, I Am

The new blog hop I'm adding this week is First Line Friday. I won't be doing anything different from what I've been posting. The only difference is I'll be linking up with this additional blog hop.

Today's excerpts are from A Flicker of a Doubt (Fairy Garden Mystery 1), by Daryl Wood Gerber.

Here is the first part of Chapter 1:
Chapter 1
Down by the spring one morning
While the shadows still lay deep,
I found in the heart of a flower
A tiny fairy asleep.
-Laura Ingalls Wilder, "The Fairy Dew Drop"
Slam! Slam-slam-slam! Slam!
My insides did a jig. I dashed down the hall to the back of Open Your Imagination, dusting my hands off on my denim overalls while wondering what in the world was going on. Fiona, the teensy righteous fairy that appeared to me the day I opened my fairy garden shop, fluttered to my shoulder. Her limbs and gossamer wings were trembling.

And here's an excerpt from page 56 in the paperback format:
Calliope leaped into the air and orbited Meaghan's head once before resuming her position on her shoulder. She hadn't doused her with a potion. Intuitive fairies didn't need magic to help their humans. Perhaps she'd circled Meaghan to mentally send her positive vibes.

Each chapter in every book in this series begins with a fairy quote or poem, which is one of the reasons I like having my own personal copies of them. Then, in Chapter 1, we are reunited with our amateur sleuth, Courtney, and her righteous fairy, Fiona. (Fiona is the fairy I named my cat after.) Something is already happening. What could it be?

In the excerpt from page 56, we see Calliope, an intuitive fairy, trying to emit positive vibes over her human, Meaghan, during a stressful situation. Meaghan is Courtney's best friend. This excerpt is a good example of the whimsical way the fairies in this series behave. Not everyone can see fairies and not all fairies are alike. They use their unique characteristics to help their humans in the best ways possible.

I am currently reading this book. The first in this series, A Sprinkling of Murder, was the first paranormal cozy I ever read and it was the one that made me realize that magic is my favorite theme.

Here is Miss Fiona soaking in some evening sunshine. It is almost time to cut their nails again. They do not like to have their claws clipped. Bell usually tolerates it, but Fiona puts up a fight and clearly states her opinion!
