Fun on Friday 41

Happy Friday, friends!

I'm once again participating in five blog hops today. You can click on the host links below to read the blogs of others who are participating in each blog hop. If you're a blogger, feel free to join through their links!

QuestionWhat review rating system do you employ?

My response: My rating system is on the right sidebar of my blog. It is based on how I feel about the book or movie. We all have different tastes and perspectives, so I understand that something that does not resonate with me could resonate deeply with someone else and vice versa.

Today's excerpts are from the e-book format of Be Careful What You Witch For, by Emily Fluke. It is the prequel novella to her upcoming series, Bewitcher's Beach paranormal cozy mysteries. The prequel is available to download for free when you sign up for her newsletter.

Here is the first sentence:
Skeins of yarn were piled high to bury the spell book and keep the secret of Lulu's family safe.

And here's an excerpt from 56%:
Where had Mr. Murphy spoken with Doctor Bucks last night? If Lulu pinned the answer, she might determine where Mr. Murphy had gone between home and work.

From the beginning, we learn that Lulu's family has a secret. What is that secret and why is it important to keep it safe? In the excerpt from 56%, Lulu is processing next steps in her sleuthing, through the voice of the narrator.

I finished reading this novella today and it will be the next one I review on my blog, so stay tuned! It's coming next week.

Monday, July 3rd will be exactly one year since the girls came to live in their forever home. It's been quite a year! Here they are lounging in the sun after dinner. While Bell has been sitting on the ground and in the sun a little more often than she used to, Fiona still prefers the sunshine more than her sister does. Fiona is usually directly in the sunshine, while Bell is usually not keen on direct sunlight.

  2. In the end, a review is always simply how one person saw a book or movie or whatever. Others with different taste might get more or less out of it.

I can imagine keeping that book hidden is very important.

Thank you for joining Feline Friday!

  3. Happy Gotcha Day for Monday, girls! Cats are like people with some preferring shade. Eric liked the shade, but Flynn could never have too much sun.

  6. I don't do star ratings. Just let my reviews speak for themselves on whether I like a book or not.

    1. Reviews are important. I think they help the authors more than the star ratings do, especially on sites like Goodreads. :)
