Question: What is your favorite plot twist?
My response: I'm always happy when I think I know who the culprit is in a cozy mystery, but then it's revealed to be someone else. It has to all make sense to be a satisfying ending, though. All the clues from the rest of the book have to come together in the end, even with the plot twist.
I am in Christmas in July mode, so today's excerpts are from the hardcover format of A Christmas Candy Killing (Killer Chocolate Mystery 1), by Christina Romeril.
What was an alliterative word that worked with cyanide? They'd used Strychnine Strawberry. Was there anything that went with hemlock? The only thing better than naming Murder and Mayhem's Killer Chocolates was eating them.
And here's an excerpt from page 56:
The tables were all occupied, and all eyes turned toward her when she walked through the doorway. For a moment, everyone was quiet and stared. She felt like a specimen in a jar, but thankfully the moment passed, and everyone went back to their coffee and gossip.
I'm about a quarter of the way through this book and I hope to make a lot more progress this weekend. When I'm done, I'm planning to post a review. So stay tuned! Have you read this book?
I love Christmas in July!!! :-D Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt's so much fun! I've never celebrated it as much as I have this year. :-)
DeletePlot twists do have to be sensible and i think most good authors realize that.
