Four for Friday - Adaptations, Class Reunions, and the Cat Who Reads

Happy Friday, friends!

Today I'm participating in four blog hops. The host for Friday 56 is taking a break, but I'll continue to share excerpts. You can click on the host links below to read the blogs of others who are participating in each blog hop. If you're a blogger, feel free to join through their links!

Question: Never judge a book by its film adaptation. Do you concur?

My response: Yes, I concur. I also feel that a movie should never be judged by the book its based on. Movies will never be exactly the same as their books. They are two separate forms of entertainment and can both be enjoyed as such.

Today's excerpts are from the e-book format of Class Reunions are Murder (Poppy McAllister Mystery 1), by Libby Klein.

Here are the first few of sentences:
I was being bullied by stationery. The note had arrived the day before by courier service - and it had to be a trap. I glared at it on the coffee table wondering if I dare open it. I pulled my knees up to my chest and hugged them to calm my shaky nerves.
And here's an excerpt from page 56:
A sense of dread spidered its way up my spine. But once Aunt Ginny made up her mind, I knew only too well, a buffalo stampede couldn't make her change course. I would have to wait until she was ready to talk.

This is page 56 in the format on my phone, which is a total of over 700 pages since the screen is small. So page 56 isn't too far into the book. Although these excerpts are from the e-book format, I am actually listening to the audiobook and enjoying it. I really like Libby Klein's writing style. It is narrated by Callie Beaulieu.

Bell loves to sit and read with me. It can be a challenge, I must admit.

  1. You are right, movies and books are different and have to tell stories in different ways.

There are times I don't want to open the mail either, although I've never had anything delivered by courrier, I don't believe.

Reading with a cat is a challenge, but they need the entertainment too, I guess. Thank you for joining Feline Friday!

    1. Mostly, Bell just loves to cuddle, so when she sees me sitting in one spot like this, she takes that opportunity to snuggle up next to me (even if it is on top of the book...lol). :-)

  3. I liked that opening line when I read the book. It really makes you want to read more, doesn't it?

  4. It is nice to have a companion when you read, but I agree it does make things difficult.
