Happy Top Ten (and More) Tuesday! Here, you will find a list of all the movies I watched and books I finished in December.
MOVIES
Letterboxd allows for half star ratings for movies, but I'm sticking to whole instead of sliced mushrooms. The heart indicates when the movie had the "it" factor, that something special that makes it a favorite of mine. It's probably one I would re-watch. It does not have to earn five mushrooms in order to earn a heart. There could be plot holes, etc., but if it was still immensely enjoyable, it earned a heart.
The number on the left is the date in December when I watched the movie. Most of the time, I watch half a movie in the morning while having breakfast and the second half in the afternoon while having lunch. Hallmark movies, which are mostly what I watch, are all less than 90 minutes long without commercials, so via DVR, I can easily watch one per day most days.

Most of these premiered on Hallmark during this past holiday season and a few of them are older Hallmark movies that I had been wanting to watch. They aired 40 new movies in a span of two months. That is too much for me! So I picked the ones I really wanted to watch and just focused on those. There were a few I watched a couple of times, partly because I enjoyed them, but also because I thought there may have been details I could have easily missed in those movies the first time around. I still have the rest of them recorded. I may eventually watch them, perhaps during Christmas in July.
Christmas Time is Here aired premiered on GAC a couple years ago. I had seen the leads in supporting roles in a trilogy of Hallmark movies and I really wanted to see them at the leads. I really enjoyed the movie on GAC in which they were the leads.
Christmas at the Chalet and A Cowboy Christmas Romance aired on Lifetime. I watched them because I was familiar with the leads. I enjoyed them in those movies.
The older movies I watched from the 40's and 50's were Christmas in Connecticut and Bell, Book, and Candle. I had heard Christmas in Connecticut was good, so I gave it a try and let me tell you...I LOVED it! It made me laugh so much! It was such a pleasant surprise. I watched Bell, Book, and Candle because it relates to The Good Witch series on Hallmark (that's the name of her store). Unfortunately, Bell, Book, and Candle did not hold my interest at all.
The non-Christmas movies I watched were Downton Abbey and Downton Abbey: A New Era. They really kept the essence of the series intact and I was very happy to see that. They were nothing out of the ordinary, but I enjoyed both movies. I hope they either make more of these movies or continue the series.
Take Me Back for Christmas remained my number one favorite Hallmark movie of 2023. It premiered during Christmas in July and I watched it again in December. I loved it just as much in December as I did when I first saw it over the summer.
BOOKS
Bookmory is an app that generates a calendar when I enter the books I read or listened to. Below the calendar are my ratings for each book. The icons indicate the format in which I enjoyed the books.
I don't give hearts for books like I do for movies because I rarely re-read books. When I do, it's usually because I haven't reviewed it yet and I need to refresh my memory before I do or because it's part of a book club and I need to refresh my memory for that reason. Otherwise, there are too many that I want to read and it would take too much time to re-read them. Also, many of them are part of a series, of which I have so much catching up to do.

In December I read a few children's books around Christmas, in addition to enjoying one memoir and several cozy mysteries. I really enjoyed listening to the entire Christmas Tree Farm mystery series and I can't wait for the next one to be released later this year. I am also highly anticipating more books by Sarah E. Burr. Reviews for books that I've posted on my blog are linked above.
That's all for 2023!
