Five for Friday - Synopses, Four Leaf Felony, and Fairy Home

Happy Friday!

Today I'm participating in five blog hops. You can click on the host links below to read the blogs of others who are participating in each blog hop. If you're a blogger, feel free to join through their links!

Question: Do you use a book's synopsis for your review?

My response: I usually write a few sentences explaining what the book is about, but I try not to give away too much. Most of my reviews are explanations of my own thoughts about the book. I like to be as surprised as possible when I read a book, so I aim to write my reviews in a way that readers can get a sense of the plot, but still be surprised if they choose to read it.

Today's excerpts are from the Kindle format of Four Leaf Felony (Holiday Cozy Mystery 1), by Tonya Kappes.

Here is the beginning:
"And my daughter. Pride spilled out of the woman. Her smile, her eyes, her entire face lit up as she showed me photos on her phone."

And here is an excerpt from 56%:
"The Lucky Leprechaun showed up here." He grinned and pointed to a life-sized Leprechaun with a big joker-type smile on its face at the top of the street. "Every year the Lucky Leprechaun shows up in a neighborhood. That's the Lucky Leprechaun. We don't know who does it, but it happens at Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, any holiday with a mascot. If the mascot of that holiday shows up in your neighborhood, the residents have to host some sort of community party in celebration."

Doesn't Holiday Junction, as the village is called, sound like a fun place to live? I'm a little more than halfway through this book and I'm hoping to finish it this weekend. I may have found a new favorite author and series because I'm really enjoying this book.

Here is Fiona sort of hiding in the fairy home, which she knocked over and tackled before settling into it. Fiona gives 110% to everything she does.

Fiona, you like to beat a house into submission before you move in, don't you. Thank you for linking up with Feline Friday!

  4. I have a similar approach to writing a summary in a book review. Four Leaf Felony sounds like a great way to get in the mood for St. Patrick's Day! Such a cute photo of Fiona!

    1. Thank you, Kym. Yes, it's very relatable for moms. I'm wondering if it will have anything to do with the main storyline. We shall see! :)
