Five for Friday - Fresh Beginnings, Deep Dish Pizza, and Birthday Girls

Happy Friday!

Question: May is the month of new beginnings or fresh starts. Could you suggest a book with themes about growth, renewal, or personal transformation?

My response: Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen comes to mind. Both Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy show character growth within themselves and in how they view others.

Today's excerpts are from the e-book format of Six Feet Deep Dish (Deep Dish Mystery 1), Mindy Quigley.

Here is the beginning:
The problem with perfection is that it doesn't exist.

And here is an excerpt from 56%:
While I'd been making the pizzas, I'd also been cooking up a plan to do more investigating, a plan I knew Capone would not approve of. I told myself that my white lies and attempts at misdirection were in the service of the greater good, but Capone's scolding had gotten under my skin. I wasn't sure if I could count on myself not to let on what I was planning.

I really enjoyed this book. I'm planning to post my review next Wednesday or Thursday, so stay tuned!

  1. Another book that shows the growth in characters is Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe.

  2. Sometimes you just can't keep things to yourself, like the character in the book. It's very hard.

I wish Bell and Fiona many happy returns of the day and thank them for linking up with Feline Friday!
