Five for Friday - The Great Indoors, A Mysterious Affair, and Fiona Finally Learns

Happy Friday!

Today I'm participating in five blog hops. You can click on the host links below to read the blogs of others who are participating in each blog hop. If you're a blogger, feel free to join through their links.

Question: What's your favorite outdoor reading spot, and do you have any advice for creating the perfect outdoor reading experience?

My response: I used to read outside on the balcony until I was visited by large potentially stinging insects. I'm terrified of any such creatures, so since then I've been reading only indoors. On nice weather days, I do have the balcony door open a crack. I can't open it too much for fear of Bell and Fiona seeing something outside, lunging at the door, and tearing the screen.

Today's excerpts are from the e-book format of The Mysterious Affair at Styles (Hercule Poirot 1), by Agatha Christie.

Here is the beginning:
The intense interest aroused in the public by what was known at the time as "The Styles Case" has now somewhat subsided. Nevertheless, in view of the world-wide notoriety which attended it, I have been asked, both by my friend Poirot and the family themselves, to write an account of the whole story.

And here is an excerpt from 56%:
"Now, Poirot," I remarked resignedly, "perhaps you will tell me what all this is about?"

Although these excerpts are from the e-book, I actually listened to the audiobook. I finished it today and will share my thoughts on this weekend's Sunday Post. Have you read this book? If so, what did you think of it?

It took two years, but Fiona has finally learned that the round mat is meant for sleeping on, not destroying. It's even in the spot where it's meant to be - right in the curve of the tunnel. She made biscuits on it before falling asleep.

  2. I reread The Mysterious Affair at Styles this past year. It was as if I was reading it for the first time. The delight of Agatha Christie!

  3. It takes some cats a bit longer than others to realise a comfy bed is there waiting for them!

  4. Reading outdoors is sweltering here, we stay in unless it's a rare cooler day.

Way to go, Fiona! Thank you for linking up with Feline Friday.
