Thank you to That Artsy Reader Girl for once again hosting Top Ten Tuesday!
Since I just started reading cozies last year, all of which so far are part of different series, I have not yet completed any series where I know there won't be more. So I can't say I wish they had more books since I'm not at the end of them yet. Instead, I'll list cozies, in alphabetical order, which I intend on reading the entire series.
Cat Lady Mysteries, by Linda Reilly
I mean, I have to have at least one cat series on this list. I chose this one for two reasons. One is that it apparently involves a lot (11??) cats and the second reason is Linda Reilly also wrote the Grilled Cheese Mysteries, which I love. I have not yet read any of the Cat Lady Mysteries, but I own the first one and I am planning to read it before the end of the year.
Fairy Garden Mystery Series, by Daryl Wood Gerber
I read the first book in this series as part of a cozy challenge. I had to read at least one cozy with a magical/paranormal element. It was the theme I was least looking forward to in the cozy challenge, but to my surprise, this one turned out to be one of my favorites! This is the series that made me a believer in fairies. I named one of my kittens, Fiona, after the fairy amateur sleuth sidekick in this series. (My other kitten is also a fairy named Bell, after Tinker Bell.) I have read the first two Fairy Garden Mysteries and I will soon read the third one, which I own a copy of after winning it in a giveaway. It's one of the few series where I am collecting all of them. One of the reasons I like collecting this series is because each series opens with a fairy quote, which I love.
Farm to Table Mysteries, by Amanda Flower
The organic farm theme is what drew me to this series. I am a huge fan of organic farming. It is the only kind of produce I buy. So far I have only read the first book in the series, but I am definitely planning to read the next one in the fall. Not only is the organic farm a nice hook, but the mystery in the first one was also great! I am interested in seeing how the subplot unfolds as the series progresses.
Glass Bead Mystery Series, by Janice Peacock
Beading is near and dear to my heart, as it was a hobby Stephanie and I worked on together. I think between the two of us, we kept the bead industry in business. We used to attend the local bead expo every year and we frequently went to stores to shop for beads. I have not yet read any books in this series, but it is on my radar. I think it would be wrong for me not to read it!
Grilled Cheese Mysteries, by Linda Reilly
National Grilled Cheese Day is on my birthday, so I knew I had to start collecting this series. I'm not a huge fan of culinary cozies because I rarely make the recipes. However, you say "grilled cheese" and I say, "Where?!" There are recipes in the books, but they do not overpower the mysteries. I tried (and loved) Havarti cheese for the first time because of this series. I loved the first one, but the second one is even better! I am looking forward to reading future books in the series. I know there is at least one more coming and I can't wait! I bought the first one and won the second one in a giveaway. I am planning to buy all others that come next in the series. (You can read my review of No Parm No Foul here.)
Hannah Swensen Mysteries, by Joanne Fluke
I've explained a few times on my blog that this is the series that got me hooked on cozies. I won't go into detail again, but you can read my explanation by clicking on "Why Cozies" on the right sidebar. You can also read my review of Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder by clicking here and Devil's Food Cake Murder by clicking here.
Maple Syrup Mysteries, by Emily James
Once again, I'm not usually a fan of culinary cozies, but maple syrup is one of my favorite foods on Earth. Anytime a recipe calls for sugar, I use maple syrup instead. This is a long-ish series and I have not yet read any of them, except for the short story prequel. I am planning to read book 1 in the near future.
Pen and Ink Mysteries, by Krista Davis
What drew me to this series is that you can color the cover of these books. Coloring is another hobby of mine (though I no longer do it often), so I thought this would be a fun series. I own a copy of the first book and will be reading it (and coloring the cover) in the very near future.
Popcorn Shop Mystery Series, by Kristi Abbott
Okay, fine. Another culinary cozy series is on the list. I guess I do like them, if they're about foods I already enjoy. Apart from maple syrup, popcorn is my other favorite food on earth. I eat air-popped popcorn every single day. I own a copy of the first book in the series and will be reading it sometime in the next few months.
The Original Illustrated Sherlock Holmes, by Arthur Conan Doyle
This isn't a series of books, but a book that contains one Sherlock Holmes novel and a lot of Sherlock Holmes short stories. I'm slowly but surely making my way through it. After reading some of the reviews on Goodreads, it seems many people take months or even years to finish this book. This will likely be the case for me as well.
I'd like to add that while this isn't a series, nor is it a cozy, I also want to read all books written by Nicholas Sparks. I own copies of and have read several of them already, but I'll probably reread many of the ones I already read. I like his style of writing, which I find easy to follow and enjoyable to read. Next on my radar for his books is A Walk to Remember.
What draws you to a series? Tell me in the comments below!
Cozy series tend to go on and on, so there aren't any I've completed either. I'm just about caught up in Flowers' Amish Candy Shop Mystery series, though. I want to start the Reilly one, too. I love cheese :) Also, cheese puns are my favorite, so the titles make me laugh.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT!
Ah, the Amish Candy Shop Mysteries. I have heard so much about that series and today is the release day for the next one. I need to check that series out. :-)
DeleteDefinitely! It's super fun.
DeleteI have several of Amanda Fowler's Farm to Table series on my Kindle, but have never read any of them. I ran across the Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder yesterday when I was looking for books set in Connecticut (I think it was Connecticut) and I was wondering about this one. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteCindy, you're welcome. It takes place in Minnesota. It's a long series that is still ongoing. I'm about halfway done (or rather, halfway caught up). :)
DeleteNice list! I have Grilled Cheese Mysteries on my list as well. I'm loving it.
ReplyDeleteWendy, I can't wait until the next one is published! We won't have to wait too long, I don't think.
