Sunday Post 8

Hi everyone! I hope my friends in the U.S. had a wonderful Thanksgiving and I hope everyone else had a great week as well!

It is a very rainy Sunday here today (cue Keith Urban's "Raining on Sunday"), which is fine because the only things on the agenda are cooking for the week (including an extension of some Thanksgiving staples), Ravens football, and a movie on GAC Family. I started watching "Christmas at the Drive-in" yesterday and I'll finish it today. So far, I'm pretty disappointed. It is very slow in my opinion and it has a completely different vibe than what I prefer. My channel of choice for romcoms, etc. is definitely The Hallmark Channel, but I thought I'd at least give GAC Family a try to see what it's all about. I think Hallmark's Christmas movies have been very good for the most part this year.

On a different note (but still about movies), I'll be watching the first Top Gun movie in the coming week for about the one millionth time. I requested the sequel at the library and it will be available for me to borrow in the next week or two I think, so I want to refresh my memory on the first one (not that I need to after having seen it so many times already, but you know...one can never be too sure...). 😊

On to the books.

Today I am linking with Reading Reality, who hosts Stacking the Shelves and The Book Date, who hosts It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (This is posted on Mondays, so be sure to check the link then.)  There you will be able to see links to the posts from others who are participating, and if you're a blogger you can join too!

I finished reading Fiber Fueled: The Plant-Based Gut Health Program for Losing Weight, Restoring Your Health, and Optimizing Your Microbiome, by Will Bulsiewicz! I'm glad to have finished this book (just one day before it was due) because now I don't have to get on the waiting list again. I didn't read the recipes word for word, but I did skim through that section. I gave it four stars on Goodreads. As I mentioned before, there are some things, based on my own experiences, that I disagree with. It's also more scientific than what I prefer to read. I'm glad that research supports what he says, it's just that I wasn't interested in reading all those details. Other than that, it is a very good book about how to keep our gut healthy (and it isn't just about the fiber). I still prefer Dr. Mark Hyman's book, Food: What the Heck Should I Eat? over this one, though. That one received five solid stars from me.

I have about 35 pages left to read in The Diva Runs Out of Thyme, by Krista Davis. I should be able to finish today, which is perfect since today is the last day of the Thanksgiving weekend and this mystery takes place around Thanksgiving. I will post my review soon after I finish it.

I am planning to read Escape Claws (A Cat Lady Mystery 1), by Linda Reilly next. I chose this book as part of a challenge on Goodreads. It's an animal-themed cozy mystery. I really love Linda Reilly's Grilled Cheese Mystery Series, so I'm really excited to get started with this one.

I am also participating in another blog hop today - Sunday Post, hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer. With this blog hop, I'll recap what I've posted over the past week. If you missed a post you want to read, just click on the link below.
Thanks for reading! I'll see you around the blogosphere!

  1. Ooh I just saw Top Gun (the new one) over the weekend. Fun!!

Fiber Fueled (and the other one you mention) both sound like good reads. I may try that one you recommend.

    1. Greg, I'd love to know your thoughts on it if you read it! I can't wait to see the new Top Gun. Unfortunately, my number on the waiting list didn't budge one bit today. I can't stand the anticipation! Lol. :)

  3. The new Top Gun was the first movie we saw in the theater in over 3 years (we don't go often) but wanted the big screen for the action scenes. We wore our masks the whole time but it's not a fun way to watch a movie - don't anticipate another theater visit for a year or two. BUT, the movie was fun and I thought they did a good job paying homage to the first. Enjoy! Your cozy covers always look so fun - hope you enjoy them all.

    1. Thanks, Terrie. The last movie I saw in the theater was Star Wars Episode 9 on Christmas Day 2019. I don't go often either (even before Covid because I just can't sit in theater seats for that long), but some movies definitely work well with the theater experience. :-)
