Top Ten Tuesday - Favorite Movies of 2022

Happy Top Ten Tuesday!

I am not linking with the usual blog hop today since I'm doing something a little different. Instead of focusing on books this week, I'm going to list my top ten favorite movies that I watched for the first time in 2022. They were not necessarily released last year, but that's when I first watched them. Not all of these are mysteries, but they feel cozy to me. Some of you have seen a previous list I made, but this one is a little different because I had to swap out one of the movies (The Nine Kittens of Christmas) since I watched that one in 2021 for the first time.

10. The Santa Stakeout (2021) - This Hallmark light mystery movie pleasantly surprised me in the best ways possible. You can read my full review here.

9. Ghosts of Christmas Always (2022) - I know A Christmas Carol has been done a thousand times over. In fact, Hallmark alone has done a few versions. This latest one was cleverly released around Halloween (being about ghosts). It was a nice transition to the Christmas season of movies. I am always up for watching new versions of A Christmas Carol and I was (again) pleasantly surprised that this one was a little different. Even being a Hallmark movie, I did not see the surprise twist at the end coming. It made my heart so happy.

8. The Good Witch (2008) - I haven't seen all of the movies in this series, but so far I like this one the best (although so far they're all good). I like the bit of magic in it and it's refreshing to have a Hallmark Halloween-ish movie to watch. I have the rest of the series recorded so I can watch it in October this year.

7. October Kiss (2015) - This Hallmark movie clearly centers around Halloween and it's refreshing to see that. It is a fun movie and I can definitely see myself watching it again at some point. I wish Hallmark would make more Halloween-themed movies like this one.

6. Christmas Connection (2017) - This was the first Christmas movie I watched this past Christmas season that I loved. It has all the Hallmark Christmas vibes, but beyond that there's just something extra special I felt from it. It moved me in a way that movies don't always do.

5. Rip in Time (2022) -  I loved this movie so much. It was magical and at times comical. I have already watched it a few times and I would watch it again. It's such a fun and unique take on Rip Van Winkle. Niall Matter does an amazing job as Rip!

4. Top Gun: Maverick (2022) - Uh, okay. Maybe not exactly a cozy movie, but aren't movies always cozy?? Sequels don't get much better than this one. It does such a respectable job paying homage to the original Top Gun, while taking it to the next level. I loved the first Top Gun, but this one is a thousand times better which I didn't even think was possible. It's so full of heart.

3. Lost in Austen (2008) - If you like Pride and Prejudice and you haven't seen this twist on it, I highly recommend it! I've seen several adaptations (loose and otherwise) of Pride and Prejudice, but this is by a landslide the best twist in my opinion. It stays true to the original, while adding that twist. I was on the edge of my seat until the end. I was genuinely interested in finding out how it would end.

2. Secret of the Wings (2012) - This is the fourth installment in the Disney Fairies franchise, and the second best one in my opinion. From the moment I saw the fairy wings in the first movie, I was mesmerized and I was so happy that they eventually made an entire movie about those wings. The animation is crisp and stunning and the story is engaging.

1. Tinker Bell (2008) - 2008 was apparently a great year for movies. Even Iron Man (which I love) was released that year. As far as Tinker Bell goes, well it's no coincidence that I named my cat (Bell for short) after this delightful fairy. There's literally nothing I don't like about this first installment of the Disney Fairies franchise. I've never seen animation this sharp and colorful. The story is fun and the music is perfect. It isn't just your typical Disney-sounding music. It's so much more than that. Tinker Bell stole my heart.

Have you seen any of these movies? What did you think of them?
