Question: What was your favorite genre to read as a child? Do you still read that genre or do you read something else now?
My response: I didn't have a favorite genre because I wasn't an avid reader as a child. However, I do remember reading and enjoying the Encyclopedia Brown series. So maybe I always had it in me to read mysteries. This makes sense since I now gravitate towards cozy mysteries.
FRIENDLY FILL-INS, hosted by Four-Legged Furballs and 15 and Meowing.
1. I enjoy making beaded jewelry. However, it's been a while since I've done this because my main hobbies now are reading and blogging.
2. I can't stop reading cozy mysteries. Every time I think of reading something else, my heart always leads me back to cozies.
3. I need to figure out how to pace myself before reading a book. I look at how many chapters the book has and about how long each chapter is. Then I decide when I want to finish the book. From there, I decide how many chapters I want to read each day. Even if I don't stick to my plan (because life sometimes has other plans), it does provide a guide so I don't feel overwhelmed.
4. I may not be a fast reader, but I do enjoy what I read.
Fiona and Bell taking their late morning nap. They are nine months old now.
Fiona and Bell are such cuties. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. As long as you enjoy reading, no need to read fast. I don't read many cozies, but one series I love is The Kleptocat ones by Patricia Fry. Have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like an interesting one. I'll have to look into it! :-)
DeleteI read Encyclopedia Brown as a kid as well. Fun mysteries.
ReplyDeleteMark, thinking about that series makes me want to reread it even now. :-)
DeleteFiona and bell are growing fast!
ReplyDeleteThey most certainly are! I think they're full-grown now, though. :-)
DeleteBBH ~ I never really had a favorite genre as a child, I chose to explore all genres then. Today I am the same way I suppose, I like so many different genres. I do tend to gear towards the psychological thriller genre lately. But I try to make myself go out of my comfort zone and try something new, but it is hard for me.
ReplyDeleteSame here, Jody. I do read outside of my comfort zone sometimes, but I always go back to cozies. I am however, becoming more and more interested in magical realism and romcoms. (I watch a lot of Hallmark movies, but have only read one romcom book.) :-)
DeleteYour special plan of how much to read each day to keep you from being overwhelmed sounds smart. I used a plan like that one semester in school when i had to read Moby Dick, and several history books, and was taking both a Shakespeare course and a course on his contemporaries and had to read several plays. I had a master list of how many pages/chapters/acts of a play to read each day so i wouldn't get behind.
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining Feline Friday! Those kitties are beautiful.
Thank you! I did something like that when I was in school too. :-)
DeleteI like how you plan out how much time you'll take to read a book. Nice! And I love to see Bell and Fiona again. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Wendy. :-)
DeleteI love the photo of Bell and Fiona. So cute. I'm the same way as you - I'm not a fast reader, but I do enjoy what I read. Cozy mysteries are my #1 genre, but lately I've also been enjoying rom-coms. Still, I always end up with cozies.
ReplyDeleteYvonne, I hear you! What matters most is that we enjoy it. :-)
DeleteI loved Encyclopedia Brown when I was growing up too. :-) Cozy mysteries are such fun. I enjoy reading them as well. Love the Fiona and Bell photo! It warms my heart.
ReplyDeleteThank you! :-)
