Happy Top Ten Tuesday! This blog hop is brought to us by That Artsy Reader Girl. On her blog you will see links to the blogs of others who are participating in Top Ten Tuesday. If you are a blogger, feel free to join the party through the linky on her blog post.
This week's topic is books to read if you love author x. With National Poetry Month just around the corner, I am going to tweak this to share cozy mysteries to read if you love poetry. I have only read one book on this list, so I don't know how much poetry is in the others. I only know that the titles imply that they have could possibly have something to do with poetry.
I've heard that Because I Could Not Stop for Death (Emily Dickinson Mystery 1), by Amanda Flower, has some more serious themes in it than her other cozies do, but being a fan of Emily Dickinson, I want to read it. I love the idea of Emily Dickinson being a sidekick amateur sleuth. It takes place in January, so I'll probably save it for next year.
I've been wanting to start this Magical Bookshop Mystery series, also by Amanda Flower. What better time to start with book 1, Crime and Poetry, during National Poetry Month? I reserved it at the library and will pick it up soon. This one also involves Emily Dickinson - in the form of a dead body clutching a volume of her poems. In this magical bookshop, apparently the books choose you!
I'm not sure when I will read Murder on the Poet's Walk, by Ellery Adams, as this is number eight in the Book Retreat Mystery series. I have not even started reading this series yet. This installment also involves dead bodies clutching poems.
I read No Parm No Foul (Grilled Cheese Mystery 2), by Linda Reilly, just before it was released last year. While the name of this book does not imply that poetry is a part of the story, I can tell you that it is. If you've been following me, you'll know that I love this series. April is National Grilled Cheese Month (in fact, National Grilled Cheese Day is on my birthday), in addition to National Poetry Month. What better way to celebrate both than by reading this book? This was the second book I reviewed on my blog. You can read my review here.
Perilous Poetry (Book Barn Mystery 3), by Kym Roberts, centers around a fictional Midnight Poet Society book. I had never heard of this series until I did a search for cozy mysteries with a poetry theme, but I am intrigued by the premise. It sounds like a twisty mystery that involves multiple homicides.
I could only think of or find five books for this topic. Do you know of any other cozy books (not necessarily mysteries) that feature poetry?
These all sound super fun. :)

Thank you! :-)
DeleteI can imagine it takes great talent to mix poetry with murder, which is not poetic at all.
ReplyDeleteI agree! :-)
DeleteI'm not a poetry fan, but I'm guessing a poetry-themed cozy would still be fun and probably not have TOO much actualy poetry in it! I haven't read any of these, but several of them are on my TBR list.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT!

Exactly, Susan. The focus is on the cozy mystery, not necessarily on the poetry. :-)
DeleteI have the top two on my TBR, I own the second one and STILL haven't read it. I had the first one out from the library but couldn't get to it before it was due back.
ReplyDeleteCindy, I imagine that one is in high demand right now, too. I asked my library to purchase it. Hopefully they will. :-)
DeleteMeezan, I hope they do too!
DeleteThis is fun. I love the Grilled Cheese series too
ReplyDeleteIt's one of the best, Wendy! :-)
DeleteOh.. I need to start reading cozy mysteries (I read a couple a few years ago but somehow never got around to reading more though I enjoy them).. Love your poetry take on this prompt.. The one that appeals to me most on your list is Crime and Poetry...
ReplyDeleteHere is my TTT
Cozy mysteries are mostly what I read. I love the premise of Crime and Poetry. :-)
DeleteWhat a fun list!
ReplyDeleteThank you! :-)
