Hello, friends!
This week's Top Ten (and more) Tuesday is my monthly movie roundup. This is a list of all the movies I watched in March and the ratings I gave them on Letterboxd (stars translated to mushrooms here).
Letterboxd allows for half stars, but I'm sticking to whole instead of sliced mushrooms. The heart indicates when the movie had the "it" factor, that something special that makes it a favorite of mine. It does not have to earn five mushrooms in order to earn a heart. There could be plot holes, etc., but if it was still immensely enjoyable, it earned a heart.
The number on the left is the date in March when I watched the movie. Most of the time, I watch half a movie in the morning while having breakfast and the second half in the afternoon while having lunch. Hallmark movies, which are mostly what I watch, are all less than 90 minutes long without commercials, so via DVR I can easily watch one per day most days.
And now, I present to you my March 2023 Caboodle of Movies!
10 Mystery 101: Pilot (2019)πππππ
12 The Love Club: Nicole's Pen Pal (2023)ππππ
14 Game of Love (2023)πππ
15 Unexpected Grace (2023)ππππππ
16 Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001)ππππππ

20 The Cases of Mystery Lane (2023)πππππ
22 A Winning Team (2023)ππππ

31 Mystery 101: Deadly History (2021)πππππ
Here's how I would rank the March 2023 premieres that I watched:
5 Game of Love
4 The Love Club: Nicole's Pen Pal
3 A Winning Team
2 The Cases of Mystery Lane
1 Unexpected Grace
I didn't get around to watching all of the March premieres yet, so I'll list them when I share my April Caboodle of Movies.
I was really disappointed in Game of Love. I love board games and I love the two leads, Brooks Darnell and Kimberly Sustad, but this movie just didn't hold my interest.
Despite the caboodle of lies in The Love Club: Nicole Pen Pal, I did enjoy the movie with its many twists and turns.
A Winning Team was pretty good in my opinion and I didn't even mind Kristoffer Polaha's hair, which everyone seems to be talking about. To me, it fit his role. I didn't really like it in the commercials, but once I saw it in the context of the movie, it didn't bother me.
Hallmark treated us to another new mystery in March. You can read my review of Cases of Mystery Lane by clicking on the link in the complete list of movies above.
Unexpected Grace was an unexpected pleasant surprise to me. Dramas are usually my least favorite kind of Hallmark movies to watch, but this one really hit home for me. I thought the topic of grief was handled beautifully and realistically, although I can see how some aspects of it didn't work for everyone. But for me, this is my favorite movie of the year so far.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone was a re-watch, then I watched for the first time, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. I'm planning to get through all the books and movies by the end of this year.
As you can see, March was filled with Mystery Madness. I bookended the month with the Mystery 101 series. I finally watched the series that everyone has been talking about. I will post my overall review of the series on Wednesday. In the meantime, check out my review of the pilot by clicking on the link in the complete list above.
Have you seen any of these? If so, what are your thoughts on them? What was your favorite movie that you watched in March? (It doesn't have to be a Hallmark movie.)
It's amazing how sometimes even favorite leads just don't work for a particular film. If i get a chance, i'll check out Unexpected Grace.
ReplyDeleteTrue. Sometimes it's about the writing or other aspects of the movie. Unexpected Grace received mixed reviews. I hope you enjoy it. :)
DeleteI have not watched any of these movies, but now I have a list of movies to watch!
