Top Ten Tuesday - Books I Need to Shelve

Happy Top Ten Tuesday! This blog hop is brought to us by That Artsy Reader Girl. On her blog you will see links to the blogs of others who are participating in Top Ten Tuesday. If you are a blogger, feel free to join the party through the linky on her blog post.

I am doing a rewind and going back to a week that I missed. But not only that; I'm tweaking the topic. The original topic for a week I missed was The First Ten Books I Randomly Grabbed From My Shelf. I'm changing it to Ten Books I Need to Shelve.

The reason I haven't shelved these books yet is because I recently received them as gifts or through giveaways. I need to completely rearrange my bookcase to make room for them. It will take a while, but I need to do this soon.  I'm thinking of organizing them according to months of the year since I prefer to read certain books at certain times of the year.

So, here are ten books I recently received as gifts or through giveaways that I need to shelve. I have only read one of them so far. Read on to find out which one.

Ropes and Last Hopes (Harper and Moon Investigations 0.5), by Trixie Silvertale, is a book I received from a giveaway during Sarah E. Burr's Bookish Moment recently. Her Bookish Moments on YouTube are the shorter daytime versions of her weekly Bookish Hours. The series is a prequel to Trixie Silvertale's Mitzy Moon series. I love that the cozy companion is a caracal, according to what the kitty on the book cover looks like. This is not your average domestic cat. LOL.
I've been wanting to read The Whole Cat and Caboodle (Second Chance Mystery 1), by Sofie Ryan, ever since discovering it shortly after I started my blog last year. I received the book as a birthday gift this year.
In the Company of Witches (Evenfall Witches B&B 1), by Auralee Wallace, was also a birthday gift this year. I already read it last year, but it was so good I can easily see myself reading it again. It is so very well written. I'm currently reading the second book in the series, When the Crow's Away. To read my review of In the Company of Witches, click here. I'm planning to kick off the unofficial start to summer with #Tag Me for Murder (Trending Topic Mystery 1), by Sarah E. Burr. I won both books in her Trending Topic Mystery series during her book release party for #Follow Me for Murder, on YouTube.
Claws for Alarm (Mrs. Murphy Mystery 30) and Furmidable Foes (Mrs. Murphy Mystery 29), by Rita Mae Brown were both birthday gifts this year. I don't usually read series out of order, but I'll probably read these two first and if I like them, then I'll go back to the beginning.
On Skein of Death (Riverbank Knitting Mystery 1), by Allie Pleiter, was also a birthday gift this year. The reason it was on my wish list was because it is set in my home state of Maryland. It looks like a fun series.
Murder at the Zoo (Agatha, Raymond, Sherlock, and Me Mystery 1) by Marcia Rosen, is another one I won during one of Sarah E. Burr's Bookish Moments. By the way, she said no animals are harmed in this book, which is good to know.
Marcia Rosen (M. Glenda Rosen) offered two books to give away during the same Bookish Moment. Without a Head: Dying to Be Beautiful Mystery was the other one I won from her. I don't think this is part of a series. At least not yet.

A Bead in Hand (Glass Bead Mystery 2), by Janice Peacock was another birthday gift this year. I read the first one in this series, High Strung, last year and I loved it. It was one of my favorite books I read in 2022. Beading is near and dear to my heart, so I wanted my own copies of the series. I'm gradually going to collect all of them. To read my review of High Strung, click here.
Writing the Cozy Mystery, by Nancy J. Cohen is not a cozy mystery, but it is a how-to guide for writing a cozy mystery. I want to try my hand at it sometime. Perhaps I'll make this my own version of NaNoWriMo in November.

Do any of these capture your attention?

  3. I'm not really a seasonal reader, but I kind of love the idea of arranging your shelves by seasons when you want to read them. Fun! Good luck with all the shelving and rearranging.

    Happy TTT!
