Happy Friday, friends!

Question: Why character do you identify with and why?
My response: Brynn Warren, the main protagonist in In the Company of Witches and When the Crow's Away, by Auralee Wallace. The way she deals with grief is very relatable. She touched me in a way no other character ever has.
Today's excerpts are from the print format of Not if I Date You First, by Krysti Meyer. It's a YA romcom.
If I ever needed a good luck charm, it's today.
And here's an excerpt from page 56:
I'm suddenly very aware of my appearance. Drenched in sweat and puffy-eyed, I look worse than I did in green juice yesterday.
The book is told from two different perspectives, Ada's and Liam's, but both of these excerpts are from one character's point of view. Why does she need a good luck charm? Why is her appearance such a mess? And what was up with the green juice? You'll have to read to find out!
This book is an ARC I finished reading yesterday. I'll post my review on release day, next Tuesday.
Peek-a-boo! This is Fiona in their fairy home. The picture was taken the week they were adopted. She's about 10 weeks old in this picture.
They used to be able to both fit inside this fairy home, but not so much anymore. They can fit inside it one at a time, but they mostly just like to play with it. It's not uncommon for one to go inside, the fairy home topples over, then the other one attacks it while the first one is inside/underneath it.
Fiona also likes to chew on it, unfortunately. One of those white dots is no longer there. You'll have to consult with her for an explanation.
Sounds like a fun read! Love the kitty mushroom house! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you! You too! :-)
DeleteCute little mushroom fairy, I mean, cat home!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Anne! :-)
DeleteAlthough I don't identify completely with any characters, there are some that I find have similar traits to me or traits I want to emulate. Here's my BBH: https://bonniereadsandwrites.com/2023/07/06/book-blogger-what-character-do-you-identify-with/
ReplyDeleteI agree, Bonnie. :-)
DeleteI like the quotes. Also, the picture is adorable!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Thank you, Breana! :-)
DeleteVery fun kitty mushroom! And I'll have to see if our Library has this book!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it can be pre-ordered by the library (or ordered on Tuesday when it releases). :-)
DeleteYou stepped out of your cozy zone! Glad you enjoyed this one. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt happens occasionally. Thank you! You too! :-)
DeleteThe book looks good. I love the kitty fairy home. How cute!
ReplyDeleteThe girls agree! :)
DeleteI didn't like this week's question. Relatability connects people to characters. Not identity. I take these two words to have different meaning.
ReplyDeleteMy post: https://snapdragonalcoveblog.wordpress.com/2023/07/07/what-character-do-you-identify-with/
It is interesting to read about the different interpretations of this question. :-)
