Sunday Post 46

Hello, friends!

On these blogs you will be able to see links to the posts from others who are participating in these blog hops, and if you're a blogger, you can join too.

So, life gave me a plot twist last week. As plot twists go, I did not see it coming and it really put a kink in my week. I love plot twists in fiction, not so much in real life! I'd rather not go into to details, but I'll say I did not get any reading done. Not a single page. I also didn't post any reviews. A big part of this was mindset and not the challenge itself. I am going to try to have a better week this week.

RECENTLY FINISHED
πŸ„πŸ„πŸ„πŸ„πŸ„
Although I didn't read any books, I did listen to Cheddar Late Than Dead (Grilled Cheese Mystery 3), by Linda Reilly. I had already read the print format earlier this year, so I knew what it was about. I really enjoyed the audio as much as I did the print format, which isn't always the case. You can read my five-star review here.

IN PROGRESS
You may recall, I started reading Death on the Shelf (Haunted Library Mystery 5), by Allison Brook, but I wasn't able to finish it before I had to return it to the library. It was an interlibrary loan with no option to renew again after the due date, so I requested another copy. I was able to pick up the next copy from the library this weekend, so it's in my hands again to continue.
I was hoping to finish #TagMe for Murder (Trending Topic Mystery 1), by Sarah E. Burr, by this weekend. I still want to finish this one at least before summer is officially over.
I am almost finished listening to Wonder, by R.J. Palacio. When I posted about this last week, some people said it's been on their TBR for a while. I would like to encourage you to move it to the top of your list. I think this is a book that middle school children and adults can benefit from reading. It's an important topic and it's so well written. The audio is most excellent. To read some lines from this book, click here.
UP NEXT
The next audiobook I'll listen to is A Skeleton in the Family (Family Skeleton Mystery 1), by Leigh Perry. This book has been on my TBR list for a while. I've heard that it's a good back-to-school book, which is why I decided this month is a good time to dive into it. I think it might be a fun one to listen to.
ON TELEVISON
  • Hallmark Summer Nights - Summer Nights premieres ended strong with Napa Ever After. That was my favorite summer premiere and my favorite Mahogony movie so far. It was fun, light-hearted, visually appealing, and had a decent well-paced plot overall. I also watched another standout as my personal grand finale, The Beach House. This one was also really good, but much more somber. Although I gave it 5/5 stars, I don't think I could watch it again. I'm planning to post my full list of movies watched (and books read) in August on Tuesday.
  • Friends - I continued re-watching season 2. Ross and Rachel are now a couple. Didn't see that one coming! (Kidding, of course.)
  • Signed, Sealed, Delivered - I watched Higher Ground. This installment is my favorite so far! I loved the trifecta of plots of the letter they're trying to deliver, the progression of the relationship between Norman and Rita, and the relationship dynamics between Oliver and Shane. This one was full of surprises!
  • Wonder - I also watched this movie, which is based on the book I'm reading. This was my second time watching it and I loved it as much as I did the first time I saw it. 5/5 stars and a favorite for me. Highly recommend!! It's a good family-friendly movie.

  3. Wonder went all around our school when it first came out. It took everyone's breath away. I think all people, young and old, could benefit from reading Wonder.

I'm not a fan of plot twists in real life either. I hope this week is a better week!

    1. Nicole, it's definitely worth prioritizing it, though I know how difficult that can be! :)

  7. I pray you don't have any plot twists again soon, they can be most distressing.
