Sunday Post 45

Hello, friends!

On these blogs you will be able to see links to the posts from others who are participating in these blog hops, and if you're a blogger, you can join too.

I am going to be busy on Sunday, so I'm posting this on Saturday night. This week didn't go as well as I would have liked, but there's always next week, right? Hopefully I'll get more reading done. I'm going to keep this short because I'm heading to bed soon.

RECENTLY FINISHED
πŸ„πŸ„πŸ„πŸ„πŸ„
For the second time, I finished listing to You Can't Candle the Truth (Glenmyre Whim Mystery 1), by Sarah E. Burr. I am so obsessed with this book! I loved it just as much the second time I listened to it. I am planning to post a review next week, then I'll read book 2.
IN PROGRESS
I started reading Death on the Shelf (Haunted Library Mystery 5), by Allison Brook, but I wasn't able to finish it before I had to return it to the library. It was an interlibrary loan with no option to renew again after the due date, so I requested another copy. When that comes in, I'll just pick up where I left off. The e-book isn't available on Hoopla or Libby through my library. The audiobook is, but since I started reading it, not listening to it, I'd like to finish in the same format.
I started reading #TagMe for Murder (Trending Topic Mystery 1), by Sarah E. Burr. This will be my main focus this week. I want to finish it by next weekend. We'll see how that goes!
UP NEXT
I already read and reviewed Cheddar Late Than Dead (Grilled Cheese Mystery 3), by Linda Reilly, but since I'll be participating in a discussion about the book in a few days, I'm going to listen to the audiobook to refresh my memory about the details. I really enjoyed this book. You can read my five-star review here.
I'm going to listen to Wonder, by R.J. Palacio. This is for a disability-focused book club. It's been on my TBR list for a while, so I'm glad I'll finally be reading it and discussing it with others who read it as well. I saw the movie adaptation a couple years ago and I really liked it, although I wish they had hired an actor who in real life has the same facial difference as the character.
ON TELEVISON
  • Hallmark Summer Nights - I'm starting to get tired of the summer movies, so I'll be happy when the fall movies begin. I'll probably start watching older fall movies I haven't seen yet after Labor Day.
  • Friends - I continued re-watching season 2. Nothing different really stands out from the few episodes I watched this week.
  • Signed, Sealed, Delivered - I watched Lost Without You. This installment brought tears to my eyes. It was so good!

    1. Mark, it's good to know I'm not the only who hasn't seen all of those SSD movies. There is speculation that another one will be released. Maybe by then I'll be all caught up. :-)

  3. I'm sorry this week didn't go as well as you had hoped it would, but---you are right!---there's always next week.

Lucky you---getting to read Wonder for the first time. I've been listening to an audiobook by Henri Nouwen and he talks about how much working with disabled people changed him in a good way.

  4. I loved WONDER. We read it for my book club, too, and we don't usually read YA or Junior Lit. It was so touching.

  6. Meezan, a disability focused book club is very unique, I have not heard of it before. What made you all go that route? I hope this week is a better reading week for you, have a great one!

    1. Cindy, everyone in the group has some connection to spina bifida. Some of us, like myself, were born with spina bifida, while others know someone with spina bifida. We read all kinds of books that are disability-focused because even if it isn't about spina bifida, we can often relate to having any disability. I don't participate every month, but if my library has the book, I usually do read or listen to it. :-)

  10. The Haunted Library series is good and I did enjoy one or two of them via audio. Loved Wonder, read it to my class when I was teaching long ago!

  12. I binged a cozy series this month or Dog Days of Summer Challenge. It's the Pooch Party Mysteries and I located all three on Hoopla. It was definitely what I needed as I had been missing my cozies. I read such a variety of genres that something is always taking a backseat.
