Hello, friends!

The tides are turning. I feel like I'm slowly but surely getting back into my groove. I'm still not where I'd like to be with reading and reviewing, but I'll get there. It helps that I had a dentist appointment last week that I was dreading (I ALWAYS dread going to the dentist, even if it's just for a cleaning) and to my delight, it went very well. He told me I'm doing a great job cleaning my teeth and that there was hardly anything for him to clean. I was in and out in 15 minutes, and part of that time was spent just trying to get comfortable on the chair! I needed this bit of good news.
It also helps immensely that on Thursday, the same day as my dental appointment, the weather turned more fall-like. I love the crisper, cooler air and it seems it's here to stay for the long haul. YaY! It looks like we'll have highs in the 70's for a while, which is perfect for fall. I especially love when the early mornings are in the 40's and 50's. That's perfect walking weather for me. I really enjoy walking at sunrise and since the sun is rising later now, I can try and get out at that time. We do need rain, though. We had a nice, steady rainfall this morning, but it's already stopped. It's very cloudy, so maybe there is more to come.
This week, I have three more doctor appointments, which are all routine and previously scheduled. I also have a condo meeting to get ready for. It will once again take time away from my reading, but I'm expecting all of my appointments to go smoothly.

RECENTLY FINISHED

I finished listening to A Skeleton in the Family (Family Skeleton Mystery 1), written by Leigh Perry and narrated by Katina Kalin. I enjoyed it on audio and I enjoyed the book overall. I did get confused at times, but it was a good mystery with a fun premise. I mean, Sid is a talking and walking skeleton. How could that not be fun? I'll very likely listen the next one in the series, The Skeleton Takes a Bow, soon. To read some excerpts from this book, click here.

I also finished reading Death on the Shelf (Haunted Library Mystery 5), by Allison Brook. This is another strong installment in the series I've been enjoying from the beginning. To read my full review, click here. To read some excerpts, click here.

IN PROGRESS
Double Booked for Death (Black Cat Bookshop Mystery 1), by Ali Brandon, is my top priority this week. The Cozy Mystery Book Club meets next week, so I need to finish it by then. I haven't gotten very far with it, but hopefully I'll do better this week.I'm about halfway through the audiobook for Against the Currant (Spice Isle Bakery Mystery 1), written by Olivia Matthews and narrated by Janina Edwards. While the mystery, so far, isn't as much a part of the book as I'd like it to be, I am enjoying it. I love the premise of opening a West Indian bakery and the close-knit family. It is very enjoyable to listen to.
UP NEXT
After I finish listening to Against the Currant, I'm going to listen to the next one in the series, Hard Dough Homicide. Then I'll be caught up in the series and ready to read or listen to the third one, Coconut Drop Dead (I love that title...lol) when it's released later this year.
I will be receiving an e-ARC of Magic, Movies, and Murder (Bewitcher's Beach Mystery 1), by Emily Fluke, soon, so that will mostly be next on my list to read. After subscribing to her newsletter, I received a free copy of the prequel novella to this series, Be Careful What You Witch For, and I loved it. (You can read that review here.) So I volunteered to be on her ARC team for book 1 in the series.
ON TELEVISON
- Hallmark Premieres - I watched Guiding Emily and Fourth Down and Love. Fourth Down and Love was just okay, but I LOVED Guiding Emily! This is my favorite Hallmark movie of the year so far. If you get a chance to watch it, please do. I loved it so much that I added the book it's based on to my TBR list. I am planning to post a review of the movie soon.
- Signed, Sealed, Delivered - I watched Home Again. It was good, but not one of my favorites in the series. I think I have three more left to watch, unless, of course. they make more.
- Friends - I finished Season 2 and started watching Season 3. There was closure to one storyline with Monica and the beginning of another storyline with Chandler at the end of Season 2, but no major cliffhanger like there was at the end of Season 1.
- Ahsoka - I had planned on waiting until May (Star Wars Month) to watch this show, but when I found out a friend was watching it, I decided to tune in because I like the buddy system. So, I binged the first five episodes. It's pretty good, though confusing at times to me. The 5th episode was my favorite so far. I especially loved the scenes that took place between worlds.
