Happy Top Ten (and More) Tuesday!
Welcome to my monthly list of movies watched and books read and listened to! I am a week late this month, but the wait is over!
MOVIES
Letterboxd allows for half star ratings for movies, but I'm sticking to whole instead of sliced mushrooms. The heart indicates when the movie had the "it" factor, that something special that makes it a favorite of mine. It's probably one I would re-watch. It does not have to earn five mushrooms in order to earn a heart. There could be plot holes, etc., but if it was still immensely enjoyable, it earned a heart.
The number on the left is the date in September when I watched the movie. Most of the time, I watch half a movie in the morning while having breakfast and the second half in the afternoon while having lunch. Hallmark movies, which are mostly what I watch, are all less than 90 minutes long without commercials, so via DVR, I can easily watch one per day most days.

29 Craft Me a Romance (2023)πππ
I continued watching the Signed, Sealed, Delivered series of movies. I was blown away by how good Higher Ground was. That may be my favorite in the series so far.
I watched the The Beach House around Labor Day Weekend as my unofficial farewell to summer. It's a really good movie. I can't find any fault with it. The reason I didn't give it a heart is because it's so sad in some ways that I don't think I could handle watching it again. I'm glad I watched it once, though.
Craft Me a Romance aired on Great American Family. With Jodie Sweetin starring in a fall-themed movie centered around crafting, I thought this movie had all the right ingredients. Something was missing, though. It was just really slow and not at fun as I thought it would be.
Here are some of my favorites from the month of September:
Favorite non-Hallmark movie: The Little Mermaid
The cinematography alone in this movie makes it worth watching, but the acting, the plot, and the music are also really good. They managed to stay true to the original (which I also love). while elevating it to greater heights.
Favorite Hallmark Movies: Guiding Emily and Haunted Harmony Mysteries: Murder in G Major
It's hard to say which of these two movies I like more because they're so different from each other. They both aired on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. While Guiding Emily is serious in some ways, it's well-balanced with humor in all the right places. I also appreciate the way disability is portrayed and the acting is top notch.
Murder in G Major is a mystery and it's by far my favorite new mystery of the year. This one is well-balanced with mystery, humor, and heart. I hope it becomes a series. They definitely left it open for more.
BOOKS
Bookmory is an app that generates a calendar when I enter the books I read or listened to. Below the calendar are my ratings for each book. The icons indicate the format in which I enjoyed the books. I'm really thankful for audiobooks because, for the most part, that was the best way for me to experience them in September.

I don't give hearts for books like I do for movies because I rarely re-read books. When I do, it's usually because I haven't reviewed it yet and I need to refresh my memory before I do or because it's part of a book club and I need to refresh my memory for that reason. Otherwise, there are too many that I want to read and it would take too much time to reread them. Also, many of them are part of a series, of which I have so much catching up to do.
Until next time, that's all for now!
I know you had a couple of rough weeks, but you still managed to do a good bit of reading and watching and reviewing!
ReplyDeleteThank you. Yes, September was rough. I'm satisfied with all that I accomplished under the circumstances.
