Happy Friday, friends!
Today I'm participating in five blog hops. The host for Friday 56 is taking a break, so for now, this blog hop will now be hosted by My Head is Full of Books. You can click on the host links below to read the blogs of others who are participating in each blog hop. If you're a blogger, feel free to join through their links!
Question: Do you prefer to read old or new books?
My response: I don't have a preference, as long as the book is in good condition. I'm not a fan of torn pages, etc. Otherwise, I read both.
Today's excerpts are from the hardcover format of A Fatal Feast (Murder, She Wrote 32), by Jessica Fletcher and Donald Bain.
"Mornin', Mrs. Fletcher."
"Good morning, Newt. Lovely day."
"That it is. Pleasure to be out on a day like this."
He pulled a sheaf of mail from his bag and handed it to me. "Seems like you got quite a lot today."
"I'm not certain that's a good thing," I said, sifting through the envelopes. "Depends on what's in them."
And here's a teaser from page 56:
Hubert Billups was not standing in front of my house when I returned home, thank goodness, but my relief was short-lived.
I'm only on page 56. I read enough to get this posted today. Lol. However, it's clear that her mail plays an important role in this book. As for the page 56 teaser, why do you think her relief was short-lived? You'll have to read to find out!
This book takes place around Thanksgiving, so it's perfect to read this weekend. I love that the Murder, She Wrote series does not need to be read in order. It's nice to be able to jump in with whichever book I want to read.
Bell looks annoyed in this picture, but she really does love her sister.
Maybe Bell is annoyed about what Fiona is whispering to her!
ReplyDeleteOh, it could be! :)
DeleteI forgot how much I used to enjoy this TV series, Murder, She Wrote. I wonder which came first, book or TV screen script. Is it well-written?
ReplyDeleteI liked to buy used books, if possible, unless I am buying for gifts or I think the book will become a precious thing to me.
Anne, the television series came first. The book series started while the series was still airing. A handful of the books are based on specific television episodes, but the current long-running and still ongoing series is a spinoff from the television series. The ones I've read or listened to maintain the same vibe as the television series, so if you're a fan of that, I think you'll enjoy the books. They are really well-written and the audio is great too. :)
DeleteI've been in that position, when your relief vanishes as the person you've been dreading shows up after all.
ReplyDeleteThe girls do love each other, that's plain, although every kitty needs some alone time once in so often. Thank you for joining Feline Friday!
So very true! :)
