Top Ten (and More) Tuesday - November Caboodle of Movies and Books

Happy Top Ten (and More) Tuesday! Here, you will find a list of all the movies I watched and books I finished in November.

MOVIES

Letterboxd allows for half star ratings for movies, but I'm sticking to whole instead of sliced mushrooms. The heart indicates when the movie had the "it" factor, that something special that makes it a favorite of mine. It's probably one I would re-watch. It does not have to earn five mushrooms in order to earn a heart. There could be plot holes, etc., but if it was still immensely enjoyable, it earned a heart.

The number on the left is the date in November when I watched the movie. Most of the time, I watch half a movie in the morning while having breakfast and the second half in the afternoon while having lunch. Hallmark movies, which are mostly what I watch, are all less than 90 minutes long without commercials, so via DVR, I can easily watch one per day most days.

21 Holiday Hotline (2023)🍄🍄🍄🍄

27 A Biltmore Christmas (2023)🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄💖

28 Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up (2023)🍄🍄🍄🍄

29 A Merry Christmas Wish (2022)🍄🍄🍄🍄

Hallmark has been in Christmas mode since before Halloween, but I continued watching autumn-themed movies until after Thanksgiving. Some of them were 2023 premieres and others were older ones I wanted to see. I also watched the third installment in the Curious Caterer series and I finished the entire Signed, Sealed, Delivered series. I'm behind with my reviews, but I do want to post reviews for both of those. (Signed, Sealed, Delivered will be an overall review of the series.)

The only movie on this list that isn't a Hallmark movie is the last one, A Merry Christmas Wish. It premiered on GAC Family last year and stars Cameron Mathison and Jill Wagner. These are two of my favorite stars, which is why I watched it. I had seen a couple other movies on GAC Family before and thought they were just okay. However, I really enjoyed A Merry Christmas Wish. I think the acting made this a step above the others I had seen.

While Holiday Hotline is probably not one I'd re-watch, it was a good transition into the holiday season and I appreciate the fact that Thanksgiving was included. I don't know why Thanksgiving gets overlooked so often. There are very few movies on Hallmark that focus on Thanksgiving.

My absolute favorite movie in November, and quite possibly my favorite movie of the year, was A Biltmore Christmas, starring Kristoffer Polaha and Bethany Joy Lenz. (The top spot for the year so far is either A Biltmore Christmas or Take Me Back for Christmas.) I highly recommend both of these movies. I'll try to post a review of A Biltmore Christmas soon. There isn't anything I didn't love about it.

BOOKS

Bookmory is an app that generates a calendar when I enter the books I read or listened to. Below the calendar are my ratings for each book. The icons indicate the format in which I enjoyed the books.

I don't give hearts for books like I do for movies because I rarely re-read books. When I do, it's usually because I haven't reviewed it yet and I need to refresh my memory before I do or because it's part of a book club and I need to refresh my memory for that reason. Otherwise, there are too many that I want to read and it would take too much time to re-read them. Also, many of them are part of a series, of which I have so much catching up to do.

While I didn't read or listen to a lot of books in November, I did enjoy the ones I finished. As you can see, several earned five mushrooms and all others earned four out of five. I'd call that a successful month of reading and listening.

That's all for now! What are some movies and/or books you enjoyed in November?
