Sunday Post 2

 Hi everyone!

Today I am linking with The Book Date, who hosts It's Monday! What are you reading? Be sure to check back on Monday when the official blog hop for the week starts and you'll be able to see what everyone else who is participating is reading.

I'll continue reading Death on the Nile, by Agatha Christie this week. I spent a long time on chapter 1 where all the characters were introduced. After I finished reading that chapter, I went back and jotted down some notes in my crime log (just a regular steno pad) about each character. Since then it's been smooth sailing through the next five chapters. Even though I saw the movie and I know who the culprit is, I'm still excited to read this book. I'm focusing more on the how and why this time. It's kind of like putting together a puzzle. We usually know what it will look like in the end, but it's still fun to piece it together.

For nonfiction I will continue reading Limitless: Upgrade Your Brain, Learn Anything Faster, and Unlock Your Exceptional Life, by Jim Kwik. I've read a few more chapters in this book and I'm still really enjoying it. One thing that has always intrigued me from the very first time I heard the term years ago is neuroplasticity. I find it fascinating that we can rewire our brains. There are also some very practical tips in this book that I'm putting into practice.

I am also participating in another this week - Sunday Post, hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer. With this blog hop, I'll recap what I've posted over the past week. If you missed a post you want to read, just click on the link below.
  • Sunday Post 9/25 What I'm Reading and a recap of the previous week's post
  • Mystery Monday 9/26 - A review of The Windsor Knot , by S.J. Bennett
  • Top Ten Tuesday 9/27 - Cozy mystery book covers with typography that steals the show
  • Felines and Fill-ins Friday 9/30 - Response to "have I ever skipped ahead to read the ending", fill-in-the-blanks, and a play-by-play of when Bell and Fiona snatched some egg shells
  • Saturday Puzzle 10/01 - This week's cozy jigsaw puzzle is Louisa May Alcott's house.
One more thing - I will be participating in the 2022 Fraterfest Readathon, which runs from October 14th through October 24th. Click here to find out what this is all about and to join the fun if you wish!

Have a great week and I'll see you in the blogosphere this week!

  1. My reviews are always better when I take notes as I go along. I have been doing them electronically but I like the idea of using a steno pad for that. Have a wonderful week!

    1. I got the idea for the steno pad from the first cozy mystery I read - Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder. Hannah Swensen uses a steno pad to take notes and I wanted to be just like her. Lol. :-)

  2. I use sticky notes in my books or highlights on Kindle. Remembering the character names is particularly tricky sometimes! Hope you have a good week and enjoy your book!

    1. Oh, the sticky notes is a good idea! That way I can go back to the page where the character was introduced. Remembering the characters is the one thing I have the most trouble with, so this will help! Thank you! :-)

  4. Death on the Nile sounds like such a fun read. I kind of want to read it now after seeing the newest movie version recently. :)

    1. Greg, so far I like it better than the movie (as is often the case with adaptations). It really is a fun read. :-)

  6. I so agree with your assessment on reading the book after seeing the movie. I love gathering the details in the book that you don't get in the movie, being in the characters' heads, and finding the why the story is the way it is. I also love to see what's different between both mediums. I hope you enjoy your journey. I'd love to read Death on the Nile at some point. :D
