Sunday Post 10

Hi everyone!

Today I am linking with Reading Reality, who hosts Stacking the Shelves and The Book Date, who hosts It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (This is posted on Mondays, so be sure to check the link then.)  There you will be able to see links to the posts from others who are participating in each blog hop, and if you're a blogger you can join too!

I finished reading Escape Claws (A Cat Lady Mystery 1), by Linda Reilly. In case you missed it, you can read my review here. I enjoyed it!

I started reading Blackberry Pie Murder (Hannah Swensen Mysteries 17), by Joanne Fluke, and I should finish in a few days. This plot is different than the usual "formula". I haven't decided how I feel about it yet. Stay tuned!

Next, I'll be reading Read and Gone (Haunted Library Mysteries 2), by Allison Brook. You can read my review of Death Overdue (Haunted Libary Mysteries 1) here.

Yesterday I started reading a non-fiction book, Golem Girl: A Memoir by Riva Lehrer. This is the January pick for a bi-monthly book club I will start participating in next year. Riva Lehrer is an artist who was born with spina bifida, which is the same birth defect I was born with. It will probably take me several weeks to read this. My plan is to read a couple of chapters each day. If it weren't for the book club, I would not have thought to read this book. I'm excited to read it and have the opportunity to discuss it with others who will have read it as well.

I am also participating in another blog hop today - Sunday Post, hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer. With this blog hop, I'll recap what I've posted over the past week. If you missed a post you want to read, just click on the link below.
On a movie note, I watched "Top Gun: Maverick" yesterday and I loved it! Everything about this movie screams Academy Award, in my opinion, which is rare for sequels. They did such a tasteful job paying homage to the first one, while elevating the emotional level. The aerial scenes are also fantastic! I was on the edge of my seat from beginning to end, and just when I thought I knew what would happen, everything changes. I appreciated the fact that it was just over two hours long. It seems like a lot of movies these days are two and a half to three hours long. This one accomplishes everything in a shorter period of time, the plot keeps moving at a perfect pace, and there is never a dull moment.

In other words, I highly recommend watching it, if you haven't. :-)

As far as Hallmark movies go, my favorite new Christmas movie of the week was "A Fabled Holiday". I also really enjoyed "Long Lost Christmas", "A Dickens of a Holiday" (another creative and heart-warming twist on the classic "A Christmas Carol"), and "Open By Christmas". (The last two are from last year.)

Thanks for reading! I'll see you around the blogosphere!

  1. I have those cozies in my TBR. I have to get back to those series. They are so good. Another thing I have to get back to are Hallmark movies. I haven't seen any in awhile and I have a few I want to watch. Hope you have a great week!

  4. I do not know one dang thing about spina bifida!! Let me add Riva's book to my TBR and educate myself.

I loved the first Top Gun and have the sequel on my TBW list.

    1. I'm so happy to know you'll be adding it to your TBR. :-) Since you loved the first Top Gun, I'm pretty confident you'll enjoy the second one, too. :-)
