Sunday Post 15

Welcome to another edition of my Sunday Post, friends!

Today I am once again linking with Reading Reality, who hosts Stacking the Shelves and The Book Date, who hosts It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (This is posted on Mondays, so be sure to check the link then.)  On their blogs you will be able to see links to the posts from others who are participating in these blog hops, and if you're a blogger you can join too!

I continued reading David Copperfield, by Charles Dickens. I'm on Chapter 2 and although it's more challenging than what I'm used to reading, I am loving it! I'm going to take a break from it this week while I try to finish some other books. This is my slow and steady read that will be with me for a while, so there's no rush.

I read Chapter 1 in Michelle Obama's The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times and I like it so far. This is another one I'll be take a break from this week to focus on a different non-fiction book, which I'll explain later in this post.

Assault and Buttery (Popcorn Shop Mystery 3), by Kristi Abbott, was supposed my first cozy mystery print read of the year, but I've decided to put this one on hold as well. Lol. I read Chapter 1 and I like it so far, so I'm looking forward to picking it back up in the near future.

I am on Chapter 5 in the e-book version of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, by J.K. Rowling, and I am NOT putting this one on hold. :-) I am a little shocked at some of the descriptions of characters in the first part of the book, but I know where the story is going so I'm going to stick with it. I know I will enjoy the rest of it if it's anything like the movie. With this book, I'm participating in a reading group on another blog and I'm excited to discuss it with others.

Ah yes, another shocker. I finished listening to the audiobook format of Pies and Prejudice (Charmed Pie Shoppe 1), by Ellery Adams. There is quite a bit of cursing throughout this book. I normally wouldn't stick with a book like this, but I was already invested and interested in the story that I saw it through. I don't like cursing in books (which is one reason why I read cozies...there usually isn't any...or at least very little of it). This one has more cursing in it than any other cozy I've read or listened to. I liked the story, though. I will post a review, but it will be several weeks before I do.

I have been waiting since last summer for this third installment in the Grilled Cheese Mystery Series, Cheddar Late Than Dead, by Linda Reilly. I pre-ordered it soon after I read No Parm No Foul and I just received last week. The release date is later this month and I'm so excited I get to read it early! I am on Chapter 8 and loving it so far! I want to finish it this week so I can post my review the week it's set to be released.

This is my audiobook listen for the upcoming week, Assault and Pepper (Spice Shop Mystery 1), by Leslie Budewitz. It's the next one for The Cozy Mystery Book Club Rereads, but this will be my first experience with it.

This is the non-fiction book I'm reading this week. It's for a book club that meets this Friday. So far I've only read the introduction in Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself: How to Lose Your Mind and Create a New One, by Joe Dispenza. It's hard to tell how I'll feel about it, but I'll see it through.

I am also participating in another blog hop today - Sunday Post, hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer. With this blog hop, I'll recap what I've posted over the couple of weeks. If you missed a post you want to read, just click on the link below.
As for highlights of what I've been watching, I watched The Wedding Veil Inspiration and The Way Home and I loved both of them. I think this installment of The Wedding Veil is my favorite so far.  I re-watched Curious Caterer: Dying for Chocolate in "preparation" for the next installment in this series, which will air in early February.  I'll be posting my review of Dying for Chocolate on Monday.

On a final note for today, do any of you use the Storygraph app or website? I've been reading a lot about it from others, so I decided to give it a try. I've only been using it for one day, so time will tell, but so far I love it! I'm only using the free version. It's very user friendly and it has features that Goodreads does not. I don't buy a lot of books, but I love that the buying links connect to Bookshop, which supports independent bookstores. I think I'm going to begin transitioning from Goodreads to exclusively Storygraph. (There's even a way to import Goodreads data.) For now, I'm still using both.

Have a great week and I'll see you in the blogosphere!

  1. Love all the "pun"ny titles!! I have never tried Storygraph, although I hear good things about it. I just feel like I don't need something else to keep up with. I hope you have a great week!

    1. Cindy, I can understand that. For me, tracking my reading keeps me organized and also more aware of my own habits. Eventually I'll probably just use one. Thank you. You too! :-)

  2. I started using Storygraph last year and imported all my GR info (it was a LOT) and kept up with both all last year. I like Storygraph a lot too - its main drawback is the pool of users isn't very big yet, but of course, it's awfully new compared to GR so will take a while to grow its base. I wrote a comparison article about it a few days ago - if you're interested it's at: https://www.bookshelfjourneys.com/post/goodreads-vs-storygraph

    1. Greg, all of her cozies sound delightful! I may check out some other ones written by her, in the hopes that they don't contain cursing. :-)

  5. I migrated my goodreads to storygraph early last week, and then forgot all about it, so I haven't updated anything else yet. I loved Cheddar Late than Dead, I hope you do too!

    1. Leslie, thank you so much! I am LOVING it so far! I was just telling a friend earlier today how much I love the description of the spices. Lol. I also love the facts at the beginning of each chapter. I am already thinking this is a book I want to read it in print in the fall and continue the series. I have a feeling I'll enjoy the rest of the book. :-)
