Top Ten Tuesday - Recommended Cozies in Various Themes

Happy Top Ten Tuesday! This blog hop is brought to us by That Artsy Reader Girl. On her blog you will see links to the blogs of others who are participating in Top Ten Tuesday. If you are a blogger, feel free to join the party through the linky on her blog post.

Today's topic is books I have recommended the most to others. I am going to tweak this a bit and list ten cozy mysteries I recommend in various themes. One of the many great things about cozies is that there's something for everyone. This is by no means a complete list. I could list multiple books in each theme. For the sake of simplicity and this challenge, I'll just list one in each theme. Every book pictured below is the first in the series. Click on the links to read my reviews of most of them.

The Fairy Garden Mystery series, by Daryl Wood Gerber, has a strong paranormal theme, but it's a light and fluffy one. The amateur sidekick sleuth is a fairy and she is absolutely delightful. She plays a prominent role in this series. You'll meet other fairies along the way, too.
The Haunted Library Mystery series has a minimal paranormal theme, but mostly it has a library theme. The protagonist works as an event planner at the local library and she sometimes communicates with a friendly ghost.
The Cat Lady Mystery series, by Linda Reilly, certainly delivers on the cat theme, as there is a cast of multiple cats. There is also a bit of a paranormal element.
No matter which craft you like, chances are you'll find a cozy for you. The Glass Bead Mystery series, by Janice Peacock, involves bead making. The descriptions are really interesting. It's obvious that Janice Peacock is very familiar with the bead making process.
The Evenfall Witches B&B Mystery series, by Auralee Wallace, has both bed and breakfast and paranormal themes. The first in the series, In the Company of Witches, is one of the coziest mysteries I've ever read. I am planning to read the second one, When the Crow's Away, starting this week.
Most of the holiday-themed cozies are about Halloween or Christmas, but the first in the Domestic Diva series, The Diva Runs out of Thyme, by Krista Davis, takes place around Thanksgiving.
You had to know I'd include the Hannah Swensen Mystery series, by Joanne Fluke, in this list. There is no shortage of recipes in these books. In fact, there are so many recipes in this ongoing, long-running series that it has its own cookbook. Most of the recipes are for baked goods, but there are also some for savory dishes.
If you're into farming, one series I recommend is the Farm to Table Mystery series, by Amanda Flower, This is one of the first books I gave five stars to. The protagonist manages an organic farm.
If you want to take a risky trip on the Nile, then pick up Agatha Christie's Death on the Nile. There are countless other cozy travel options out there, but this is one that I read last year.
For a beverage-themed cozy, especially in the warmer months, you might want to give Bree Baker's Seaside Cafe Mystery series a try. The protagonist owns an iced tea cafe. I'm currently enjoying the first in this series, Live and Let Chai.

Are there any books you would recommend that fit these or other themes? I would love to read a fiction book that takes place in a real setting, one that I can feel as if I'm there (not necessarily a mystery, but something that feels cozy).

  1. I love cozy mysteries, but I haven’t read many of them yet. These all sound fun.

  2. I read DEATH ON THE NILE a few months ago and loved it. It might even be my favorite Christie novel after AND THEN THERE WERE NONE. It's a great read! I also need to read IN THE COMPANY OF WITCHES. It sounds like a cute series.

    Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
