Sunday Post 33

Hello, friends!

On these blogs you will be able to see links to the posts from others who are participating in these blog hops, and if you're a blogger, you can join too.

The blogging community is so supportive. Deb from Readerbuzz kindly encouraged me to join the Sunday Salon. I had been considering it, but I hesitated because I'm still fairly new to blogging (less than one year) and I didn't want to do too much all at once. I think I'm ready now. :)

Farmer's market season started in my neighborhood in May and I have been going the past few weeks. However, I have not been going as early as I used. It starts at 10 a.m. and for the past few years I almost always arrived at 10 a.m. on the dot or sometimes a little earlier. This year I'm struggling to get there before 11:30. It ends at 2 p.m., so there's still plenty of time. However, a lot of the produce I want sells out early and I've been missing out on some things I usually buy. Yesterday I came home with just one bag of lettuce. Nothing else. LOL. I do have the option to order online from my favorite vendors and just pick it up whenever I get there on Saturdays, so I think I may have to go that route.

I've been doing pretty well (for me) with my reading, though. Here's the roundup from the past week.

I enjoyed Murder, She Barked (Paws and Claws Mystery 1), by Krista Davis. The mystery, the setting, and the characters were all good. I would have liked to have seen more cats, and at times I was confused because there was so much going on. It was a fun ride, though. If you enjoy cozies with pets, I highly recommend this book if you haven't already read it. The second one, The Ghost and Mrs. Mewer, takes place around Halloween, so I'm saving it for fall.
IN PROGRESS
I'm currently reading A Flicker of a Doubt (Fairy Garden Mystery 4), by Daryl Wood Gerber. I continue to love this series!

Not If I Date You First, by Krysti Meyer, will be my first ARC! I've been wanting to read at least one ARC, but I'm not a member of any ARC sites. I also prefer print copies of books, but I find that many ARCs are e-books. I was able to get this print copy directly from the author. It will be published in July, so that's when I'll post my review. I want to give myself plenty of time, so it's next on my list to read. For those of you who don't know, Krysti Meyer is also the host of Get Cozy Podcast.
Here's the recap of what I've recently posted. If you missed a post you want to read (or if you want to read it again!), just click on the link below.

Last week, I watched the remaining three Love Club movies on Hallmark. They are certainly not Hallmark's best. I've also been watching Once Upon a Time and continue to be in awe of this series. I have six more episodes left in Season 1, so I should finish it this week. I'll probably re-watch the first season before moving on to Season 2. It's not that hard to follow, but I'm sure there are details I didn't pick up on the first time. Isn't it nice to have streaming options that allow us to easily go back and re-watch an entire season?

Hallmark aired another new mystery last week, The Dancing Detective: A Deadly Tango. I haven't watched it yet, but I will this week. I'm planning to post my review on Wednesday, but it might be on Thursday. I am also excited to watch the new Aurora Teagarden mystery, which airs later this week. However, that's another one I'll record and watch another day. A 9 p.m. start time is just too late for me!

So what's up in your world? Do you go to farmer's markets? If so, what do you enjoy buying from there? Do you have favorite vendors that you visit regularly? I mostly stick to the locally and organically grown produce.

And of course, let me know if you have seen any of the above movies or series, or read any of the books I mentioned. Let's chat in the comments!

  1. I haven't been to a farmer's market in a long time. I am sure they have them here, but I haven't seen or heard anything about them. Have a great week!

    1. Thank you, Cindy. This one happens to be just down the street from where I live, less than a five minute drive. It's very convenient! :-)

  2. I haven't read a cozy in a while, but have some on my TBR list. I tend to want to go crazy buying fresh produce at the farmers' markets. So we haven't been this year as yet.

  3. I love the farmer's market but don't always make it there. The Aurora Teagarden show sounds fun.

    1. I love the idea of a prequel to the original Aurora Teagarden movies. I really enjoyed the original ones. They are very different than the books! :-)

  4. Going to the Farmer's Market every week sounds like a nice tradition. I always enjoy looking at the craft tables when we go--which isn't very often, sadly.

I really need to dive more into my cozies. I have so many on my TBR shelves! I would like to try Daryl Wood Gerber's series. Not If I Date You First sounds like it will be good!

I want to get back into Once Upon a Time. I used to watch the show and tried to get my family into rewatching it with me, but they lost interest. I don't know what we did without streaming services before. We're so spoiled now!

I hope you have a great week!

    1. Sadly, we don't have craft vendors often at our farmer's market. I would enjoy seeing them more frequently. This is my first go 'round with Once Upon a Time. I didn't even know the show existed until last year. Lol. :-)

  5. The farmer's market here is always on the days and times i have work, so i haven't been able to go. I know i'm missing out and wish i could order and get my Sweetie to pick it up, i'll have to see if the option is available here.

    1. I hope you can use that option. It is really convenient. Not every vendor offers it, but some do. :)

  6. I’m glad you joined Readerbuzz because that’s how I found you! 😊
It seems like you enjoy cozy mysteries. Have you read the Ellery Adams’ series, Secret, Book and Scone Society? I’ve enjoyed it very much.
Congratulations on receiving your first ARC!
Miss Fiona is such a cutie stretched out like that! (from your Friday post).
    Happy reading!

    1. Awww...thank you! Yes, cozies are my favorite! I have not read that series yet, but it's on my ever-growing TBR. :-)

  7. We used to have a farmer's market once a month in my town, and I would go each month. Right now, we have so much produce in our small vegetable garden in the backyard that we do not need to get any more! lol

    Murder, She Barked sounds delightful.

I'm so glad that you joined us at Sunday Salon. I hope you will continue to spend time with us on the weekends.

    1. Thank you, Deb! Yes, I'll definitely be back next week! Yeah, when you grow your own "farmer's market" you've got it made. Lol. :-)

  8. I enjoyed the Krista Davis book. I really need to get back to reading that series. It's a good one. I don't think I have any Farmer's Markets here. I would buy from them if we had them. Have a great week!

  9. I'd love to go to a Farmer's Market but I never seem to get there except for once or twice. Hmm ordering online is a great facility for it. Enjoy or ARC, nice that you got one. Yes the arcs I read are all Kindle ones.

  10. They've opened a Farmer's Market at the community center that is a half mile from my front door. I buy the occasional thing there (quite often something from the baker), but I usually walk through it on Wednesdays.

I LOVED Once Upon a Time, especially season 1. If I may make a suggestion, watch season 2 before you go back and rewatch season 1. There are some reveals there that pay off little set ups in season 1. I feel like they didn't have as much planned out beyond season 2, but there are definitely some things set up you'll enjoy catching if you rewatch after finishing season 2.

    1. Mark, good to know. In that case, I'll watch Season 2 before re-watching Season 1! :-)

  11. We have a weekly Farmers Market here which I browse occasionally.
Unfortunately we don’t have the Hallmark channel in Australia, though sometimes their movies do come up on Amazon or Netflix.
I haven’t read a cozy in a while, they used to be really difficult to get here, though that’s not the case with ebooks now. I should restart one of them.

Wishing you a great reading week

  12. Glad you're enjoying alll those cozies. I'm reading more psych thrillers and suspense recently, with a few cozies thrown in. Have a good week.

  13. Our farmer's market season just began a couple of weeks ago. I haven't had a chance to visit any yet. Your books sound good too. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
