Happy Weekend, friends!
Through Monday, I am linking with the following:
On the above blogs you will be able to see links to the posts from others who are participating in these blog hops, and if you're a blogger, you can join too.
I started setting up my new desktop computer, keyboard, and monitor yesterday. I haven't transferred everything from the previous desktop yet, but I think I'm set with the internet. That's mostly what I use it for, so the other stuff can wait until tomorrow.
When I set it up and logged on to the internet, I noticed my blog looked a little different. It makes me wonder how everyone else sees it. All of a sudden, I didn't like the layout. Especially for my reviews, the length of each line was too long. I did a little tweaking to make it more reader-friendly, at least on my end. I hope it's okay on your end, being the ones who read my blog!
With my previous monitor, there was a power switch in the front. I took me a long time to figure out how to power down the new one. (I didn't have to turn it on, as it automatically powered up when it was plugged in.) I ended up leaving it on overnight because I was tired of trying to figure it out. I finally did today. I don't turn my computer on everyday, so I needed to know how to do this. Gone are the days when there's a simple on/off button, I guess. Anyway, now I know.
It's also hard to get used to the new keyboard. The keys feel much more bouncy when I push them, which I like, but it's a little smaller than my previous keyboard. So it feels different. I find myself trying to find the F and J keys to get my index fingers situated and ready to type. They do have the raised lines on them, but my fingers don't land on them as easily. I'm sure I'll get used to it, though.
I feel like a huge weight has been lifted from me. My taxes are done, my new phone is all set up, and my new computer is mostly set up. The new computer is so slim and lightweight compared to my previous one (and that one wasn't very big either). I have it under my computer desk and when I went to turn it on this morning, I had to do a little searching for it. Like, where did you go, little PC? Lol.
Now that most of this is behind me, I feel like it's going to be a good week. And I should sleep well tonight because I went to bed super late last night (2 a.m., which with the time change was actually 3 a.m.) and I'm tired today. What was I thinking picking last night of all nights to go to bed that late? My usual time to be in bed is between 9 and 9:30.

RECENTLY FINISHED
ππππ
I listened to Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries (Emily Wilde 1), by Heather Fawcett, and narrated by Ell Potter and Michael Dodds. I did enjoy it overall, but I thought the pacing was too slow and I found my mind drifting away from it quite a few times. I want to listen to it again or read it before reading the next one.

IN PROGRESS
I'm still reading Magus of the Library, Vol. 1, by Mitzu Izumi. I've been so distracted by other things lately, that I didn't read much of it. I am planning to read more this week. I am really enjoying it and I can see myself continuing the series.
I'm also still reading Four Leaf Felony (Holiday Cozy Mystery 1), by Tonya Kappes. I'm almost done, so I should finish today or tomorrow. Then I'm planning to post my review on Tuesday. If you're looking for a light-hearted and fun cozy mystery set around St. Patrick's Day, this is the book for you. The entire series is set around various holidays. I can see myself continuing this series.
UP NEXT
The Cozy Mystery Book Club pick for March is Murder in an Irish Village (Irish Village Mystery 1), by Carlene O'Connor, so that's what I'll be reading next. I've heard so many great things about this series, so I'm really looking forward to doing some armchair traveling to Ireland by way of this first book.
Sometimes I read or listen to self-help books, so I requested Atomic Habits, by James Clear, on Libby. I love the idea of making big changes with small habits. I've been waiting for this book for a while. It actually did become available for me last week, but since I was still listening to Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries, I chose the "deliver later" option. I think it will become available again for me this week.
ON TELEVISON
- Wedding March 4: Something Old, Something New - Okay, so when I first saw the titles of this series of movies, I thought they took place in March. Not so much. LOL. This was still a pretty good movie that I enjoyed, though.
- My Boyfriend's Back: Wedding March 5 - I enjoyed this one even more than the previous one in the series, so much so that I'd watch it again. I want to see the rest of the movies in the Wedding March series, but I don't think they air often and I haven't been able to record them yet.
- Guiding Emily - This was a 2023 movie that premiered on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries before it recently became Hallmark Mystery. I enjoyed it so much last year that I decided to record it and watch it again when it recently aired on the regular Hallmark Channel. I loved it even more than I did the first time and I highly recommend it. You can read my full review here.
- Royal Matchmaker - I'm not usually a fan of the royal movies on Hallmark, but I had heard this was one of the better ones. So when it aired recently, I recorded it and watched it. I did enjoy it and I agree it is one of the better royal movies.
- A Prince in Paradise - Keeping with royal theme, I decided to also watch this one that aired on GAF. I liked this movie a lot as well and I would watch it again. So now I have two royal romcoms I like.
- The Way Home - I enjoyed last Sunday's episode. It was definitely one of the darker ones, which I usually don't like as much, but I thought it was really well done. It had some spooky vibes and it was nicely tied in with season 1. We are now past the midpoint of the season, so hopefully we'll start to see more happening with some ongoing storylines.
- Friends - I'm a little past the midpoint of season 8 where Rachel's boss wants to buy her baby, or so Joey is led to believe. LOL. I think that was my favorite episode of season 8.

It's always a challenge for me to get a new computer set up. Usually I end up going to the Apple Store and having the Geniuses there help me.
ReplyDeleteI'm eagerly looking forward to the next book in the Emily Wilde series.
I'm looking forward to it, too, Deb. :)
DeleteCongrats on the new computer. Your blog is looking great. I hope you'll be able to have a good week.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Yvonne. You too. :)
DeleteAh, your recap of Friends made me laugh!!! Poor Joey! Yay for getting your taxes done and and getting your computer set up. It is always hard adjusting to a new keyboard. I hope you have a great week, and recover from your lack of sleep last night. Time change is so hard anyway!
ReplyDeleteLol. Yeah, that was a funny episode. Thank you! :)
DeleteGreat post! Love seeing what you watch on television. I am in the market for a new PC. Was waffling between a desktop or a laptop. Think I will go for a MacBook Pro.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Robin. Good luck with the PC shopping. Desktops are most comfortable for me, so that's what I always stick to. :)
DeleteIt's good to keep your mind and body occupied. I've listened to other motivational speakers talk about Atomic Habits, and summarize it a bit. It sounds fabulous, I hope you will give a review.
ReplyDeleteI will definitely share my thoughts here, probably on a Sunday Post. :)
DeleteWhen I set up my last laptop I had to call Apple for help and we recently went to a new system at work and that’s been a dramatic change too. I’m excited to hear what you think of Murder in an Irish Village. I met Carlene O’Connor at a book event last weekend and picked it up. I’m reading No Strangers Here by her right now.
ReplyDeleteWow, very cool, Taylor! :)
DeleteHope your new computer works out for you. It's been a while since I read a cozy mystery, but the one set in Ireland caught my eye. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Harvee. You too! :)
DeleteThat Heather Fawcett series is really calling my name! Maybe I will try it on audio although I suspect it is a bit long.
ReplyDeleteIt always takes a bit to get used to new computers and keyboards!
I don't know how long the second book is, but the first one in the series is more than 12 hours long. It's about 4-6 hours longer than what I usually listen to. However, I will say the narration is very well done. I just requested it from Libby so I can listen to it again when it's available in a couple of weeks. :)
DeleteGlad to hear that you are getting your new computer set up. I only have a laptop that is on (and in use) all the time. Nice looking assortment of books this week. I enjoyed both Emily Wildes and am eager for more. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI've never had a laptop or a tablet. Always a desktop (and my phone). :)
DeleteEnjoy the new computer! Once they're set up, they're awesome.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's the "once they're set up" I struggle with. LOL. :)
DeleteNew computers take a while to adjust to. For me it typing on my computer to typing on my laptop. The keyboard on my laptop is smaller and my hands feel cramp typing on it.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Yeah, that's why I prefer desktops. Thank you. You too. :)
DeleteAdapting to a new computer sure takes time. Everytime I do the keyboard is slightly different in size and I have to adapt to where all the keys are under my fingers as I touch type. I've heard good things about the Irish mystery series too.
ReplyDeleteExactly, Kathryn. I'm slowly getting used to it.:)
