Happy Weekend, friends!
Through Monday, I am linking with the following:
On the above blogs you will be able to see links to the posts from others who are participating in those blog hops, and if you're a blogger, you can join too.
Here we are at the end of Chapter 3 in 2024. I can't believe we'll be starting the fourth chapter on Monday! What I'm not looking forward to are thunderstorms. I love snowstorms, but I am not a fan of thunderstorms at all. We are expecting quite a bit of rain during the week, which I don't mind. I just hope the weather doesn't develop a temper.
I also have a dentist appointment coming up during the week. I am already not a fan of dental visits, even for regular cleanings, and on top of that, I'll be seeing a new one for the first time. I've heard great things about her from others I know who have seen her, so that helps. After Wednesday, I'll feel a lot better knowing the storms and the dental visit are behind me. The latter part of the week should be dry.
Other than potential storms (because that's what happens in the spring and summer), I am excited about everything else April has to offer. Overall, it is one of my favorite months of the year. After all, it is bunny season, and who doesn't like bunny season?! I see them often on my morning walks at this time of year.

πππππ
I listened to The Ducal Detective: A Court of Mystery Novella, by Sarah E. Burr, and I LOVED it! It's a historical fantasy cozy mystery with a bit of romance. Melissa Green does such a fantastic job with the narration. I'm going to wait until I listen to all of the novellas in the prequel series, then I will post one overall review.

IN PROGRESS
I didn't make any progress with Magus of the Library, Vol. 1, by Mitzu Izumi, last week. That's what happens when you have multiple books going at the same time. Lol. I should commit to reading at least a few pages each day.
I'm about 70% through My Lucky Charm (Holidays with Hart 2), by Courtney Walsh. I should finish in the next day or two, then I'll post a review. I am really enjoying it. I'm surprised how much I like the grumpy/sunshine trope. The characters have so much depth. You can read some excerpts here.
UP NEXT
My audiobook listen for the week will be Death of a Fairy Tale (Mari Fable Mystery 1), by Emily Fluke. I was able to obtain an ARC of the audiobook. It's about an investigative journalist who is a new mother. Strange things begin to happen after she gives birth and Mari tries to balance motherhood while getting to the bottom of what's really going on. It's described as a young adult science fiction fantasy.
ON TELEVISON
- Shifting Gears - This was a 2024 premiere on Hallmark starring Katherine Barrell and Tyler Hynes. They are both great actors, but I thought this movie was just okay. It wasn't terrible, but overall I was a bit disappointed. It was slow and the leads lacked chemistry, in my opinion.
- After All These Years - This is a Hallmark mystery from 2013 starring Wendy Malick as the amateur sleuth. I'm usually not a fan of the more comedic mysteries, which is what this one was, but I really enjoyed it. The comedy wasn't too over-the-top and the mystery was really good. I can see myself watching this one again.
- Lucky in Love - I only watched this one from 2014, starring Jessica Szohr and Ben Hollingworth, because it has an April's Fool's Day theme. I thought that would be different, and it was. It wasn't the best of the best, but I enjoyed it overall.
- Murder, She Wrote - I'm about 13 episodes into season 3. Kudos to Jessica Fletcher because I can never solve these mysteries. I do enjoy watching them, though.
- The Way Home - Last weekend's episode was really good. There's only one more episode left in this season and I'm interested in seeing how they wrap it up. Then we have to wait until next year for season 3.
- Friends - I'm almost halfway through season 9 and Chandler has just quit his job in Tulsa. I had read that they developed the Tulsa storyline so Matthew Perry could go into rehab. Apparently he did have reduced screen time, but it still felt to me like he was very much a part of every episode during that time.

I'm with you on thunderstorms. Rain, yes, but only as much as necessary. Thunderstorms are never necessary to me.
ReplyDeleteMay your dental visit be easy and nothing but good news.
Yes, I agree. Thank you! :)
DeleteI'm hoping to get to the audio of The Decal Detective later this month, too. Glad to know you enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteYou're in for quite a treat, Mark! I hope you enjoy the first one as much as I did. :)
DeleteSpring brings a lot of rainy days here, too. We had a very wet March, more than some places get all year.
ReplyDeleteDeath of a Fairy Tale has an intriguing premise. I'm a bit surprised it is considered Young Adult Fiction.
I agree about the book being Young Adult, Deb, especially after listening to some of it! :)
DeleteThere are so many bunnies right now! I have cameras in my yard, and bunnies are the most common animal I see.
ReplyDeleteThat's very cool, Aj! :)
DeleteI hope your April is awesome!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a wonderful reading week
Thank you! You too! :)
DeleteI am not a fan of thunderstorms either, we were forecast quite a few and none came our way. Not a fan of going to the dentist either, but got my appointment over just before Easter. Hmm Death of a Fairy Tale sounds like it has promise.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't get any storms, either, Kathryn. I was happy about that! I'm enjoying Death of a Fairy Tale.:)
