Sunday Post 35

Hello, friends!

Happy Father's Day to all kinds of Dads!

Well, I finally remembered to order my produce from a couple of vendors ahead of time, so all I had to do on Saturday was pick them up from the farmer's market. It really takes the fun out of browsing at the market, but until I can get back in to the regular habit of arriving at the start time, this will have to do. Yesterday I didn't get there until 1 p.m. so I was very glad I ordered my produce a few days in advance. Of course, today, I was bright-eyed and bushy-tailed at 7 a.m. I hope to have more days like this.

I finished one book last week and a few others are in progress. I need to pivot and put off reading Murder on the Beach: A Destination Short Story Collection until July because there are some other books I need to focus on first.  Let's see what they are.

RECENTLY FINISHED
🍄🍄🍄🍄
I finished reading A Flicker of a Doubt (Fairy Garden Mystery 4), by Daryl Wood Gerber. While this is probably my least favorite in the series so far, it's still a well-crafted mystery with loveable characters in a cozy setting. It is just a little edgier than the previous installments, with some heavier topics touched on. Also, although we learn a little bit more about Fiona's (the fairy sidekick sleuth) backstory, I was wanting even more of that. Still, I'm eager to read the next one when it's released.
IN PROGRESS
Not If I Date You First
, by Krysti Meyer, is the ARC I recently received. I started reading it and will take my time with it. The release date is in July, so that's when I'll post my review.
I started reading Almost Fangmous, by Elle Wren Burke. This is the prequel novella to her Vampire Pet Boutique series, the third of which will be released this week. The prequel novella is available to download for free when you sign up for her newsletter. It's a great summer read for paranormal cozy mystery fans. I will most likely post a review of it this week.
Happy Audiobook Appreciation Month to me! On Friday, I was one of the winners of a giveaway Sarah E. Burr did for the audiobook format of You Can't Candle the Truth (Glenmyre Whim Mystery 1). Before this, I had never owned a copy of an audiobook before. I usually borrow them from Hoopla or Libby. I was so excited to listen to it that I started yesterday. This is also a paranormal cozy, though very different from the other paranormal cozies on this list. (All three of them are very different from each other.)
UP NEXT
Tagged for Death
(Sarah Winston Garage Sale Mystery 1), by Sherry Harris, is definitely next on my list to read. I'll have to read it while the others I listed above are still in progress. This is the June pick for The Cozy Mystery Book Club, which meets in about ten days.

Here's the recap of what I've recently posted. If you missed a post you want to read (or if you want to read it again!), just click on the link below.
Since I didn't post any reviews the previous week, I posted two last week. I'll start posting more book reviews  since I don't think Hallmark will be airing any new mysteries soon.

I started watching Season 2 of Once Upon a Time and although I think Season 1 is better so far, I'm still intrigued by all that is happening.

Hallmark is in wedding mode this month, so I've been watching the wedding-themed premieres, as well as some of the older wedding-themed movies. So far, the only one I can confirm I'll never watch again is Love's Greek to Me. I really enjoyed the scenery and I can also say the cast is talented. However, the plot is atrocious, in my opinion. I enjoyed it more than I should have.😬

Do you have a favorite wedding-themed movie? It doesn't have to be a Hallmark movie.

Let me know if you have seen any of the above movies or series, or read any of the books I mentioned. Let's chat in the comments!

    1. Cindy, would you believe I have never seen those two movies?! I should fix that. I honestly don't know how I would function without Hallmark. It's all I ever watch on live tv! :-)

  4. I've been wanting to read the Sherry Harris series for awhile. It's on my TBR and looks so good. I saw Once Upon A Time when it originally aired and liked it. I thought the first season was the best. Hope you have a great week!

    1. Thanks, Yvonne. I'm only two chapters in so far, but I really like the premise. The protagonist is a former military wife (she's divorced). I have not seen the military aspect in a cozy before. :-)

  5. There's only so much lovely scenery and a great cast can do to salvage lousy scripts and bad plots.

  7. We saw Mamma Mia as a play/musical before we saw the movie. Of course we loved both but the play just had me completely enraptured.

  9. It's wonderful that you are able to order beforehand at the farmer's market. There have been many days when I arrived late and everything was gone.

I need to remember to alert my vampire-loving friend about the Vampire Pet Boutique series.

    1. Kathy, this one is just across the street from where I live (and I still can't get there early...lol). I don't know if I would go if I had to travel farther. It has grown so much since it started several years ago! :-)
