Sunday Post 37

Hello, friends!

On these blogs you will be able to see links to the posts from others who are participating in these blog hops, and if you're a blogger, you can join too.

Happy Canada Day Weekend to my Canadian friends and Happy 4th of July Weekend to my American friends! I hope you have a safe and happy holiday! I will most likely celebrate in my happy place with a 4th of July-themed Hallmark movie.

Tomorrow, July 3rd, is Bell's and Fiona's Gotcha Day. It's hard to believe it's already been one year, and what a year it's been. I've never had kittens as young as they were when they were adopted (10 weeks old). It's been one wild year that I wouldn't trade for anything.

Last week started out hot and humid. Then we got some heavy rain, complete with a tornado warning, which thankfully, didn't turn into an actual tornado that I'm aware of. After that, the temperatures cooled down, but then we were dealing with poor air quality caused by the smoke from the wildfires again. The air quality has since improved, but we're back to being hot, humid, and daily chances for storms. For me, it's stifling. But I'm thankful for all the things I can do indoors in the A/C.

I had to make a change to my reading plan. Since I fell behind at the beginning of June, it set me back overall. So I decided to return Murder on the Beach to the library and focus on some other books I had planned to read this summer. If I finish those, I can always borrow it again.

RECENTLY FINISHED
🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄
I finished listening to You Can't Candle the Truth (Glenmyre Whim Mystery 1), by Sarah E. Burr. This is the first book I've read or listened to by Sarah E. Burr and I loved it! I will be posting a full spoiler-free review of it soon.

🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄
Be Careful What You Witch For, by Emily Fluke, is the prequel novella to her upcoming series, Bewitcher's Beach Mysteries. The prequel is available to download for free when you subscribe to her newsletter. I really enjoyed this novella and I can't wait to read the first book in the series when it's released later this year. The first book is called Magic, Movies, and Murder. I'll be posting a review of the prequel on Monday.

I finished reading Tagged for Death (Sarah Winston Garage Sale Mystery 1), by Sherry Harris, and I liked it a lot. If you want to read some excerpts from this book, click here and scroll down a bit. To read my review of the book, click here.
IN PROGRESS
Not If I Date You First
, by Krysti Meyer, will be my primary focus to finish this week. This is the ARC I've been reading and the release date is next Tuesday, so that's when I'll post my review.
UP NEXT
#Follow Me for Murder
(Trending Topic Mystery 1), by Sarah E. Burr, has been on my TBR list for a long time. I won the book in a giveaway a couple months ago. This one is definitely next on my list to read. It looks modern and summery, doesn't it?
Here's the recap of what I've recently posted. If you missed a post you want to read (or if you want to read it again!), just click on the link below.

I'm a little more than halfway through Season 2 of Once Upon a Time. What a wild and crazy magical adventure this show is!

I also watched the second episode of Secret Invasion, but before that, I re-watched the first episode. I enjoyed the first episode more the second time I watched it. The second episode was okay.

Hallmark wrapped up their June weddings last week. It was a good month. On Tuesday, I'll be posting my complete list of movies watched in June. This month is mostly about Christmas in July, which I'm thankful for because there are so many Hallmark Christmas movies I want to see. This way, I don't have to cram them all in during the holiday season. I'm starting Christmas in July movies today with Signed, Sealed, Delivered for Christmas. I will also watch some of the other Signed, Sealed, Delivered movies this month.

What's up in your world? Do you have plans for the holiday weekend? Let me know if you have seen any of the above movies or series, or read any of the books I mentioned. Let's chat in the comments!

  4. We're having some of those same smoke issues as well. And I'm enjoying secret Invasion although I was really sad to see a certain character go. She was a favorite!

    1. Greg, I couldn't believe that character was written off! After the first episode I thought maybe there was a chance she was still alive, but after seeing the second episode, I realized she's really gone. :-(

  6. A 4th of July holiday movie seems like a nice way to celebrate the holiday. :-) I have to work, but hopefully it will be quiet. Fingers crossed! Happy Gotcha Day to Bell and Fiona! I bet they've grown so much in a year. We love our little furry friends. :-)

It looks like you've been reading some great books. I love the sound of Emily Fluke's book and will have to look for that one and the rest of the series as well. I think I will be picking up a cozy mystery next. Maybe Witch Upon a Star by Angela Sanders.

I hope you have a great week!

  7. I'm hoping for a quiet week. Our temperatures have been warm but hot nearly as warm as yours. Still, I'm enjoying our central air conditioning. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
