Sunday Post 91

Hi everyone!

Through Monday, I am linking with the following:

On the above blogs you will be able to see links to the posts from others who are participating in those blog hops, and if you're a blogger, you can join too.

We had a little fall teaser last week, which felt so good. I was able to give the A/C a break and get out for walks on those days, finally. Summer is back now, but I don't think it will be as hot as it was earlier in the season. It will be too hot for my walks, though. At least it seems fall is right around the corner.

How many of you watched or followed in some way the Olympics? If you did, I hope that you will also tune in for the Paralympics, which begin this Wednesday, August 28th. They will air on NBC, CNBC, USA Network, Peacock, and for free on the Paralympic YouTube Channel. Opening ceremonies will stream live at 1pm eastern time this Wednesday, as will a lot of the events throughout the Games. For those of you who don't know, the Paralympics are just like the Olympics, except that all of the athletes have disabilities. And just like the Olympics, the Paralympics will take place in Paris.

If you subscribe to Netflix, I encourage you to watch Rising Phoenix. It's all about the history of the Paralympics. It gives viewers an honest look at how we got to where we are today. You can read my full review here.

RECENTLY FINISHED
πŸ„πŸ„πŸ„πŸ„
I finished The Summer of Yes, by Courtney Walsh. It got off to a slow start, in my opinion, but overall I really enjoyed it. I'm glad I stuck with it despite the slow start. You can read some excerpts here and you can read my full review here.
πŸ„πŸ„πŸ„πŸ„πŸ„
I also finished listening to Agatha Award winning Crime and Parchment (Rare Books Mystery 1), written by Daphne Silver and narrated by Barrie Kreinik. This cozy mystery put Maryland (my home state) on the map in the best way! I am planning to publish my review on Tuesday, but in the meantime, you can read more about it here
IN PROGRESS
I've been reading a paperback ARC of Murder on the Page (Literary Dining Mystery 1), by Daryl Wood Gerber and I'm really enjoying it so far. It has a double theme - literature and  food. This will most likely be the book I feature on this Friday's post, so stay tuned to read some excerpts from it. The book releases in October.
UP NEXT
My next audiobook listen will be Come Shell or High Water (Haunted Shell Shop Mystery 1), by Molly McRae. This is the book I won from Goodreads. I had hoped to be able to read the physical book, but I'm going to listen to the audiobook instead (at least for now). I've been looking forward to this one ever since I found out it was being released.
I'm going to pour myself a cup of ambition and add another book to the lineup this week. I've had Tatyana McFadden: Ya Sama! Moments from My Life, by Tatyana McFadden with Tom Walker, on my physical bookshelf for a long time. It's time for me to read it.  Tatyana McFadden grew up in my hometown. She will once again be competing in the Paralympics. I've been following her journey since she was in high school.
ON THE SCREEN
  • Psych - I finished season 3. Okay, so the later episodes in this season were, in my opinion better than some of the earlier ones. Since I already watched seasons 4 and 5, I'm now on season 6.
  • A Costa Rican Wedding - An unreliable woman is responsible for bringing the ring to her friend's wedding in Costa Rica. While in Costa Rica, the woman leaves the ring in her backpack and hangs the backpack on a tree in the jungle. A monkey resembling Marcel from Friends steals the backpack with the ring in it and the woman and her love interest spend the rest of the movie looking for the ring. It was entertaining, mostly because the two leads were outstanding. But the movie itself was not great. It was part of Hallmark's Summer Nights lineup.
  • August Creek - This is a Hallmark movie I've had on my radar for a while. What better month than to watch it in August? It was okay. I'm glad to finally get it off the DVR.

  1. I have had The Summer of Yes on hold for quite a while at the library, I am finally first in line (I was like 27th when I first placed the hold), so I think it will be in this week. I am looking forward to it. Have a great week!

  4. No TV here, it's too expensive, although I will do my best to keep up with the Paralympics results.

    1. You can access the Paralympics at no extra charge if you have internet access. It's free on the Paralympics YouTube Channel. :)

  5. The slow start to Summer of Yes caused me to close it and return it to the library. I'm glad that the action picked up later in the book.

Thanks for sharing info about the Paralympics. I hope a lot of people tune in for it, too.
