Hello! Fancy meeting you all here again. :-)
How's everyone doing today?
I had a good week. My birthday, along with National Grilled Cheese Day, were on Wednesday. I celebrated with a Tuscan grilled cheese sandwich for breakfast, strawberry shortcake for lunch (why not, right?), and a different grilled cheese sandwich for dinner. I really enjoyed the Tuscan grilled cheese for breakfast. It had provolone cheese and was topped with basil leaves, pesto, spinach leaves, sundried tomatoes, and aioli sauce. The one for dinner was a four cheese grilled cheese and I can't even remember what the four cheeses were. It was okay.
Classic strawberry shortcake (with the biscuit, please) is my favorite dessert. It's so rich that I only eat it once a year. This year, I was so happy to get it on my birthday. I tried to do that last year, but they (Cheesecake Factory) ran out of strawberry shortcake by lunchtime!! That's okay, though, because it was then that I discovered salted caramel cheesecake.
Anyhow, I really like strawberry shortcake done the classic way, with the biscuit. Cheesecake Factory is the only place around here that I know of that does it like that. So I always get it from there. It's about the only thing I eat from there. (I prefer local restaurants when eating out.)
I received so many books for my birthday, which I will share with you as I read them. I also received two more books that I won from Sarah Burr's Bookish Moment. Some of the books I received for my birthday were on my wish list and a couple of them are completely new to me, but ones I know I will enjoy. Most of them are cozy mysteries.
I think it's time to clear off more of my bookshelf, which currently has a combo of beads and books, and put some of my beads in storage. It's been a while since I've done any beading and I'm not sure when I'll start again, as my interests have evolved. I still enjoy beading, but I enjoy reading and blogging more.
Speaking of reading and blogging, let's get on with the show.
It's Sunday, so I am once again linking with Reading Reality, who hosts Stacking the Shelves, and The Book Date, who hosts It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (The latter is posted on Mondays, so be sure to check the link then.) On these blogs you will be able to see links to the posts from others who are participating in these blog hops, and if you're a blogger, you can join too.
Last week I remembered early in the week to link up with The Book Date, so I'm getting better!

RECENTLY FINISHED
πππππ
I finished reading A Hint of Mischief (Fairy Garden 3), by Daryl Wood Gerber and, like the first two in the series, I loved it! You can read my review here.
IN PROGRESS
The Complete Book of the Flower Fairies, by Cicely Mary Barker, will be ongoing throughout the year. I won't post about it every week, but today I want to share that my favorite illustration and poem so far is called, The Dandelion Fairy. I love Dandelions so much! To me they are flowers, not weeds. The more the merrier!
Rolling Warrior: The Incredible, Sometimes Awkward, True Story of a Rebel Girl on Wheels Who Helped Spark a Revolution, by Judith Heumann with Kristen Joiner, is also ongoing, but I didn't read much of it last week. I do need to pick up the pace because it is due soon with no option to immediately renew since others are waiting. I'm reading the e-book format through Libby.
I'm still reading the e-book format through Hoopla of Love By Chance, by Kacy Cross. The book club is in a couple of days, so I'm planning to finish it by then. If I do, then I'll post my review on Wednesday. It isn't a cozy mystery, but it is a cozy romcom.
UP NEXT
I had planned on reading Crime and Poetry (Magical Bookshop 1), by Amanda Flower next, but I need to PIVOT (spoken in my best Ross voice). The book club for A Brush with Murder (Paint by Murder Mystery 1), by Bailee Abbott, meets in about ten days. I don't want to have to rush to finish it, so I'm starting it this week. Isn't this cover simply adorable?!
I am also participating in another blog hop today - Sunday Post, hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer. With this blog hop, I'll recap what I've recently posted. If you missed a post you want to read (or if you want to read it again!), just click on the link below.

I have been watching Hallmark's Signed, Sealed, Delivered series and I am really enjoying it. I think I have six more episodes to go before I watch the rest of the movies in the series. (I already watched the pilot movie before the t.v. series.)
I also watched Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, though not on my birthday as I had planned. (I didn't watch any movies that day.) I liked it, but I found the plot more difficult to follow than the previous two. I'm going to watch the rest of the Harry Potter series this week. I may need a long vacation afterwards. Lol.
What's up in your reading and viewing world? Let's chat in the comments below!
I have not heard of a "cozy" romcom, but it sounds pretty neat! Happy belated birthday, sounds like it was a good one! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteCindy, Thank you! I'm not sure if cozy romcom is an actual genre. It's a romcom that feels cozy to me. It's published by Hallmark and based on a movie. I think all of their movies feel cozy. Thanks and I hope you have a great week too! :-)
DeleteHappy Birthday! Sounds like you had a good celebration. I'm going to look for Love By Chance. I love the term cozy romcom. I know exactly what you mean by that and I love those type of books, too. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Yvonne! I think there can be lots of cozy subgenres. I've even heard of cozy fantasies and cozy horrors as genres. :-)
DeleteLOL, somehow I commented on another post in response to your Sunday Post. I guess I scrolled too far down. Forgive me. Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteI have done that before. Thank you! :-)
DeleteHappy birthday!!! I've never seen all th HP movies.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Greg! This is my first go-round with the books and movies. :-)
DeleteI'm glad you got your favorite on your birthday, and envy you that morning grilled cheese!
ReplyDeleteIt's a once in a while treat as I don't eat a lot of bread or cheese. :-)
DeleteHappy birthday! Strawberry short cake sounds really good. I've never seen it on a restaurant menu, but it isn't hard to make at home. Nice looking assortment of books too. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kathy! I've thought about making it at home, but I would have too many biscuits and too much whipped cream leftover. I just want one, then I'm done for the year. :-)
DeleteHappy Birthday! Sounds like you had a good celebration.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Thank you! You too! :)
