Sunday Post 56

Hello, friends!

Through Monday I am linking with the following:

On these blogs you will be able to see links to the posts from others who are participating in these blog hops, and if you're a blogger, you can join too.

I had planned on posting this earlier today, but I found out another friend of mine passed away suddenly and the rest of my day derailed after that. He was a friend I knew since elementary school. Although we went to different high schools, we accompanied each other to our proms - to his and to mine. Most recently, he had been a regular attendee on weekly virtual meetings that I host. My heart is heavy.

Fortunately, I composed most of this post on Saturday evening. So, without further ado, here's the recap.

RECENTLY FINISHED

I finished reading Purrs and Poison (Chatty Cat Mysteries 1), by Elle Wren Burke. This book has a well-crafted mystery and it is also so funny! You can read my full review here. You can read some brief excerpts here

I listened to
A Fang to Remember (Vampire Pet Boutique Mystery 1), also by Elle Wren Burke. The narrator is Meghan Kelly. This is a good start to the series (that already has three books). I'm looking forward to continuing the series. I'll post a review of book 1 soon. In the meantime, you can read some excerpts here.

I read
Squeaks and Spooks (Bewitcher's Beach Mystery 1.5), by Emily Fluke. I will post a full review of this one as well. It's a short and sweet non-murder cozy mystery novella that takes place soon after Magic, Movies, and Murder. Emily Fluke's writing is so descriptive, it really pulls the reader into the story. I can't wait for book 2.
IN PROGRESS
I was able to pick up from the library another copy of Double Booked for Death (Black Cat Bookshop Mystery 1), by Ali Brandon, a couple weeks ago. I'm on a mission to finish it this week. It really is a good book. I just keep getting sidetracked! To read some excerpts from this book, click here.
I found out that A Heartfelt Christmas Promise, by Nancy Naigle, is the first book for a new book club that starts this week. So, I decided to listen to it. I'm about 30% through and loving it so far. It's like a Hallmark movie in a book. I love that the story starts in mid-November and there's some talk about Thanksgiving - a holiday that I feel gets overlooked too often. The audiobook is narrated by Stacey Glemboski.
UP NEXT
I picked up from the library today, A Fatal Feast (Murder, She Wrote 32), by Jessica Fletcher and Donald Bain. I love that this series can be read out of order. I listened to Murder on Parade over the summer and it had all the 4th of July feels. A Fatal Feast takes place around Thanksgiving. I am hoping to start reading this book this week.
ON TELEVISON
  • Hallmark romcoms - I watched Taking the Reins, and Love, Fall, and Order. Both of these are older movies that I watched for the first time. They both have strong autumn vibes, which was exactly what I was hoping for.. Love, Fall, and Order especially felt like a warm hug on a crisp autumn day. I thought this one was going to have a lot of courtroom scenes and/or legal talk, but it didn't have too much of that. It was a pleasant surprise.
  • Signed, Sealed, Delivered: The Vows We Have Made - And this concludes the Signed, Sealed, Delivered series. It was a fitting end to the series, but I am hoping more will be made. I'm planning to post an overall review of the series.
  • Friends - I'm almost at the end of Season 4. Rachel's character is starting to grow on me again.
  • Murder, She Wrote - This is a show I've been watching for the first time. I'm watching the entire series in order. Last week, I watched the two-part Season 3 premiere. These two episodes featured Florence Henderson (a.k.a. "Carol Brady") and Courtney Cox (a.k.a. "Monica Gellar"). I hadn't realized either of these two actresses were guests on Murder, She Wrote. I'm a huge fan of The Brady Bunch (don't judge me) and of Friends. Funny enough, Courtney Cox played the role of a bride in Murder, She Wrote, and on the same day I watched this, I also happened to watch the episode of Friends where the girls dressed up in bridal gowns just for fun.
  • Loki - I watched the last two episodes. What an epic finale!! It was a tedious task getting to this point, but it certainly ended strong. It was a satisfying ending to the series.

  4. I'm so sorry to read about your friend.

It's amazing the people who pop up in Murder, She Wrote. Florence Henderson will show up again.

I was going to comment on what you were posting last week about M,SW. I love the show, but it is hard to review it since it pretty much stays the same through the run of the show. There are a couple of seasons that are a little different, but for the most part, what you are watching now is what you will see at the end.

    1. Thank you, Mark. I look forward to seeing Mrs. Brady again on Murder, She Wrote. :) And good to know they didn't mess up a good thing too much with the remainder of the seasons. I guess that's part of why it lasted so long. :)

Grandma loves Murder, She Wrote and so I sometimes catch an episode or part of one. They're good.

    1. Thank you. I wish they made more shows like that nowadays that air weekly. Hallmark has mystery movies, but I would love a new weekly show like Murder, She Wrote. :)
