Sunday Post 55

Hello, friends!

Through Monday I am linking with the following:

On these blogs you will be able to see links to the posts from others who are participating in these blog hops, and if you're a blogger, you can join too.

November is off to a fantastic start for me! Yesterday I attended an event at my local library where 11 mystery writers spoke about their new releases, then did a meet 'n greet. You can read more about my experience here.

For those of you who don't already know, I have started a month of gratitude posts (well, 26 posts to be exact). Each day, I'm taking a letter of the alphabet and stating what I'm grateful for that begins with that letter. I started on November 1st and it will run through November 26th, so it will include Thanksgiving Day. You can click on the Golden Gratitude label on the right sidebar to learn more about this, see all of the relevant posts, and participate. Or you can click here. I do hope you will join me and participate too!

I didn't have any finished books to report on last Sunday, but I finished three this past week!

RECENTLY FINISHED
πŸ„πŸ„πŸ„πŸ„πŸ„
I finished reading Over My Dead Blog (Book Blogger Mystery 1), by Sarah E. Burr. I received an ARC of this book. It is a strong start to a new series. I am planning to post my review on Monday. In the meantime, you can read some brief excerpts here
πŸ„πŸ„πŸ„πŸ„
I finished listening to
Lord of the Wings (Meg Langslow Mystery 19) by Donna Andrews. It is masterfully narrated by Bernadette Dunne. This was the first book in the series that I read and I really enjoyed it. I did get confused since so much was going on and there were a lot of characters, but the mystery was strong, I loved the setting around Halloween, and I enjoyed getting to know the characters. I'm sure I will read more books in this series.

I also listened to
Too Much to Candle (Glenmyre Whim Mystery 2), by Sarah E. Burr. I loved the first one in this series and the second did not disappoint either. This is a light paranormal series that I highly recommend. I am planning on posting a review soon.
IN PROGRESS
Purrs and Poison
(Chatty Cat Mysteries 1), by Elle Wren Burke, is the first in a spinoff series that released on Halloween. I have not yet read the previous series, but I received an ARC of this one. I started reading it and so far I'm loving it! Plus, don't you just love that cover?? You can read some excerpts from this book here.
UP NEXT
Squeaks and Spooks
(Bewitcher's Beach Mystery 1.5), by Emily Fluke was on my list for last week, but I didn't have time to read it. It comes after Magic, Movies, and Murder, which I have already reviewed here. I loved the first one, so I'm excited to read this short novella. I'm hoping to read it soon.
I was able to pick up from the library another copy of Double Booked for Death (Black Cat Bookshop Mystery 1), by Ali Brandon, last weekend. I didn't have time to finish it yet, but I should be able to soon. To read some excerpts from this book, click here.
My audiobook listen for this week will be A Fang to Remember (Vampire Pet Boutique Mystery 1), by Elle Wren Burke. I have a signed print copy of this book (YAY!), but I'm curious to listen to the audio. It is available on Hoopla. The narrator is Meghan Kelly. You can read my five-star review of the prequel, Almost Fangmoushere.
ON TELEVISON
  • Hallmark movies - I watched Midnight Masquerade, Curious Caterer: Fatal Vows, and Field Day. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Midnight Masquerade is a twist on Cinderella. This is an older Hallmark movie that I had been wanting to see. I love Cinderella adaptations. It's my favorite fairy tale. Fatal Vows was excellent. I need to review that soon, but I'm not sure if that will happen this week. Field Day is a fun fall-themed movie. I enjoyed all of these.
  • A Haunting in Venice (2016) - Ummm...this was okay, I guess. Not great, but not a complete disaster either. It is my least favorite of the three starring Kenneth Branagh has Hercule Poirot.
  • Friends - I didn't watch too many episodes last week. I'm just past the middle of season 4 where Emily arrives from England. I'm still not enjoying Rachel's character too much at this point in the season.
  • Loki - I watched one episode last week, but I'm still one episode behind. I've almost completely lost interest in season 2, but I'll keep watching because I am curious how it will end.
I have been debating in my mind if I want to write a full review of season 2 of Murder, She Wrote. It's the only thing holding me back from watching the next season. Since it's so similar to season 1, I decided to just add a note at the end of my season 1 review. So now I can start watching season 3.
