Sunday Post 52

Hello, friends!

Through Monday I am linking with the following:

On these blogs you will be able to see links to the posts from others who are participating in these blog hops, and if you're a blogger, you can join too.

I've had a pretty good week. Friday was the best I have felt, physically, mentally, and emotionally, in months. For the first time in a while, I was able to take my walk before breakfast. It felt great to get out in the chill of the autumn morning air. I wore my favorite fall coat for the first time this year.

Yesterday was the Celebration of Life for my friend who recently passed. As much as I prefer in-person meetups, I'm so grateful for the option to join some functions remotely. Although it was somewhat local, it would have been very difficult for me to get there in person. So I watched the service on my computer for over two hours, then watched the slideshow of pictures of him at the end. It was such a beautiful service and I enjoyed listening to everyone speak about how he impacted their lives. The service was well-attended in person, with 100 people joining remotely. He will be missed, but I do feel like I have closure now.

We had a nice steady rainfall yesterday that was mostly light. Today we have partly sunny skies with highs in the comfortable 50s and low humidity. The fall colors are really starting to show now. We are expected to have peak colors over the next couple of weeks.

IN THE BOOKS

Yesterday I read for about two hours straight. It was the most I've read in one day in a while and it felt great.

RECENTLY FINISHED
πŸ„πŸ„πŸ„
I listened to If You've Got it, Haunt it (Haunted Vintage Mystery 1), written by Rose Pressey and narrated by Tara Orchs. For now, I'm giving this three mushrooms, but I'm listening to it again to see if I'm going to increase it to four. Right now I'm on the fence and I don't give sliced mushrooms (a.k.a. partial stars). So I have to pick one.
πŸ„πŸ„πŸ„πŸ„πŸ„
I finished reading Magic, Movies, and Murder (Bewitcher's Beach Mystery 1), by Emily Fluke. I don't know why, but this book took me longer to read than I expected. Maybe it's because I had so much going on while it was in progress. I did really enjoy it and I'm planning to post my review this week (probably on Tuesday). For now, I'll say if you enjoy quirky supernatural cozies and 1990's nostalgia, I highly recommend this one.
IN PROGRESS
I'm almost done reading Double Booked for Death (Black Cat Bookshop Mystery 1), by Ali Brandon.  This is my priority read over the next few days, especially since it's due next weekend with no option to renew (it's an interlibrary loan). To read some excerpts from this book, click here.
UP NEXT
I am so happy I was approved for an e-ARC of Over My Dead Blog (Book Blogger Mystery 1), by Sarah E. Burr. I have read (or listened to) and enjoyed a couple of her books and I have been anticipating this new series. This book releases on Halloween, so it is next on my list to read.

POSTPONING
Double Fudge Brownie Murder
(Hannah Swensen Mystery 18), by Joanne Fluke, was next on my list to read, but I'm going to have to postpone reading it. I am hoping to slowly but surely catch up on this series sometime next year.
ON TELEVISON
  • Hallmark movies - I watched The Good Witch's Destiny. 3 Bed, 2 Bath, 1 Ghost, and the All of My Heart trilogy. I started watching The Good Witch movies last October and I'm continuing this month. I have one more to go in the original set of movies before moving on to the television series. 3 Bed, 2 Bath, 1 Ghost wasn't perfect, but I really enjoyed it. Hallmark continues to excel at telling ghost stories. Although I enjoyed the All of My Heart trilogy, starring Lacey Chabert and Bennan Elliot, I was a little underwhelmed. I think my expectations were too high. It was good, just not great. I do like it overall as a trilogy more than I like the individual movies. I was glad to be able to watch them on three consecutive days. I've been wanting to watch them for a long time. I was saving them for this time of year since they're fall movies.
  • Friends - Last week I told you Monica has met "Happy". Well, they're already broken up. I'm almost at the end of Season 3. Brace yourselves because that 18-page letter (FRONT AND BACK!) is coming!
  • What If...Thor Were an Only Child? - So, the Thor movies are some of my favorites in the MCU. I thought I was going to really enjoy this episode of What If... However, it just didn't do anything for me. It's one of my least favorites in the series.
  • Loki - Where are we going with this season?  Hopefully we'll get some answers in the next episode since it will be the middle of the season. So far, I enjoyed Season 1 more, but we'll see where it goes.

WEEKLY BLOG RECAP
I did not participate in Four for Friday last week, but it will be back this week. Trust me, Bell and Fiona are on my case about it!

Have a great week, everyone!

    1. Thank you, Yvonne. :) Yes, I think one of the best things to come from the pandemic is the option to do things remotely. It's hard to believe this wasn't a common option before 2020.

  4. I am glad you had such a good Friday! I love morning walks. I've fallen out of the routine and need to take them back up again. I think it's a good idea to have a remote option for services like the one for your friend. I wish more churches or groups offered that option.

I really like the sound of Magic, Movies, and Murder and will have to check it out. Double Booked for Death sounds good too. With a title like Over My Dead Blog, I know I'll have to check out that one. LOL That's great.

I'm with you about Loki. I need more before I decide about this season.

I hope you have a great week. Take care and happy reading!

  5. I'm glad you were able to watch the service and glad it helped you. My condolences again on your loss.

The weather is nicer here, too, and it's a relief.

I'm glad you are able to read a bit more now, and hope you get to continue.

  7. That's funny that you enjoyed season 1 of Loki more. I'm thinking this season is better. But season 1 wandered so much in the middle, so that's probably clouding my view some.

    1. Mark, maybe I liked it so much because it was so different and new in Season 1. Also, Loki has always been one of my favorite Marvel characters, so I was excited he had his own series. We'll see where Season 2 goes. I am enjoying it and I do think it has potential. :)

  9. Glad you are feeling better. You are certainly reading some interesting cozies. I've only read the first in Joanne Fluke's series and am daunted by the sheer number of books I still have to read. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

    1. Kathy, they are quick and easy reads, but I know with so many other good books and series out there it's hard to fit them all in. :)

  10. It's wonderful that you felt so well last week. An improvement in the weather always makes me feel better.

And I'm happy you got a chance to get a lot of reading done!
